My mistake.

It's not smooth. He'll now have to contend with his own secessionist Georgia/South Ossetia deal. There will be people who don't want in on the USSR, and unless Shady's prepared ovens for them, they will cause trouble. For a while, at least.

Forget about seccessionists... He now has his very own East Germany to rebuild. Good luck with that money-drain...

On the contrary. Shady doesn't have to prepare the ovens; have we forgotten about the other USSR in this game?

And so do the Border Staters. They have friends... with names.

Names like...

MOHAMMAD JIHAD!

MOHAMMAD ALI JIHAD!

It will be your Afghanistan.

It was our Afghanistan for a while. It's more like our South Ossetia now ;) But sure, MOHAMMAD JIHAD is a good name.

Hell, you couldn't go wrong with such a character in Rambo III I guess

It's certainly an interesting twist. The "Georgians" will be the guys complicit with the Goddamn Commies, and the "South Ossetians" will be those who want out. A reversal, if you will.

Shady! You should install Saakashvilli as your Border State Puppet President!

LET THEM EAT TIES!

Ah, so you want out?

What's next to the Borders, Vulpesia? Thousands of the un-wanted anti-USSR elements are expunged, and it's REFUGEE CRISIS! If Shady agrees to such a course (after all, who needs prisons, camps or that stuff when you can just expunge the unwilling?), let that happen.

That will also give Vulpesia some plot significance... I feel sorry that some players lost interest in the game due to all that Shep-OD war :)

I like this idea. I will expunge them. :D

It's a cheap and easy way to get rid of them. And can give Vukpesia something to do, and King Paul too. :D

This is what I imagine the war is currently like at the time that Lonestar and Shep are VTCing over secure lines:

A: MESS Carrier Groups have withdrawn from around Shepistan for three primary reasons:

1.) To replace combat losses in aircrew and planes.
2.) To replace munitions expended (Wilkens use of 700 JSOWs in one attack most certainly blew through a big portion of a CVN's magazine space for precision munitions - carriers do not have wallhack cheat codes)
3.) To plan for future attacks on shepistan and how to deal with submarine menace.

B: Shepistani/OD SAM sites are largely expended due to either firing off their missiles in combat, or being hit hard enough to destroy them in the case of the BOMARCs, or run out of replacements (OD Mobile batteries) for damaged/destroyed units.

However, replacement SAMs and batteries are being flown in by both sides at exhorbitant costs through third parties who are officially "neutral" in the conflict.

Army and Divisional level SAM assets are still largely unattritted; because they're a lot cheaper than strategic level SAMs, and more mobile (think SA-9 GASKIN).

C.) Shepistani/MESS aerial asssets are in a regenerative phase; in the last week or so; about 1,000 combat aircraft on both sides have been blown out of the sky or been destroyed on the ground; and much of the needed material to maintain high sortie rates has been blown up or has worn out.

Replacement parts, aircraft etc are being flown in as fast as can be done.

D:) Shepistani/OD Ground Forces are regenerating; in the last week, about 1,500 tanks or various other armored fighting vehicles have been lost by each side roughly.

Recovery teams are out on the battlefield by both sides working through the day and night. Civilian firefighting trucks have been commandeered so high pressure hoses can be used to clean out the insides of knocked out tanks before steel plates are welded over the holes in them. This is followed by a thick coat of white lead primer so the blood cannot be smelled by the replacements...

Both sides are continuing to call up reservists to replace casualties; there are still deep manpower pools on both sides; but quality is beginning to suffer in units.

Both sides still have sizeable stocks of conventional munitions, e.g. nobody is going to run out of rifle rounds, 155mm HE, 120mm Sabot; but shortages are developing in specialized munitions, such as MRLS rounds with "smart" anti-tank bomblets that home in on tanks; or in laser guided bomb kits. Expenditure rates have been three to four times that predicted pre-war.

These specialist rounds are being flown in by both sides from whatever sources they can get.

Basically, the world's amoral Arms Merchants are making killings off this war.

Actually, next to the USSR is Cialan.

Shady's not gonna have a Chechnya-scale problem with the Borders, for the following primary reasons:

1) The Border States are largely ethnically homogenous. While they've been ruled by ethnic minorities (because the victors of WWII didn't want them to be easily reunited), no large-scale ethnic cleansing occured there save for the usual refugee movements.

2) No outside power will provide support to the secessionists (or at least didn't do that yet)

3) His two closest neighbors either completely support him (Stas) or do so tacitly while their people worry (Me)

Shady's biggest problem will be the staggering costs of catching up with fifty years of infrastructural development and economic growth. THe Borders will be a huge money sink for a long, long time, and they will simmer with low-level terrorist activity...forever, probably.

Money will be the biggest problem, but perhaps i could get some foreign investors to the place(Like Shroomanian oil companies...).

Anyway it won't be easy but I don't mind. The place has a lot of story potential and I think we could use it(some have already begun).

The main thing is that the place is no longer an obstacle to the SNC Continental Defence plan.

Won't that be... some kind of non-ethnic cleansing or something? Like a Stalin-esque Purge?

Who gives the puppets of Sarajevo the right to expunge people who've been living in the Border States for decades?

More like the Castro solution - kick bandits along with the political opposition out of the nation. No need to bear costs of imprisoning them for 5-10 years in the hope of them "reforming", you know
