You're either missing the point or distorting it purposely. Neuroscience and psychology can help us explain where the whole idea of "ethics" came from in the first place. Why do we think there's such a thing as "right" or "wrong" behaviour at all? That's the question which is answered by evolutionary psychology. Actually coming up with specific rules or principles is another question.

That's great: some guy gets banned, runs to your little troll forum (yes, I'm aware of that), asks people to fight on his behalf, and you promptly show up with your usual "Mike Wong is a tyrant" horseshit. The thing is, you've been saying that for years, you kept saying it even when I was absent from the board for two years, you couldn't wait to start saying it again when I came back, and I know that you will say it no matter what I do.

I'm sick of your "HELP HELP I'M BEING OPPRESSED" horseshit. So you're gone too. No, scratch that: you're erased.

What the fuck? I thought SDN let banned users' posts stand so everyone could see why they were banned. Yes, your board, your rules, but I thought this was a different kind of place that didn't do shady things like erasing posts.

I've tried that with you in the past, asshole. And when I was gone for years, you built up this ridiculous head of steam of resentment toward me, so that the instant I came back, you were right there with accusations of tyranny. It's the most absurd example of a vendetta I've ever seen, and I have better things to do than waste my time fighting your never-ending character attacks.

Normally we don't do that. But when someone virtually makes a career out of personally antagonizing me, I have better things to do than deal with it. On-topic arguments I'm fine with, but this twit has spent years trash-talking me behind my back, even when I was absent and we had almost no interaction whatsoever. I'm fine with debating issues, but I have no interest in spending my mental energy dealing with someone who thinks I'm his Moby Dick.

Because I don't fucking feel like it. I know you little "testingstan" shits already talk about me like I'm a persecuting tyrant (hell, I was apparently a tyrant even when I wasn't around), so what the fuck difference does it make if I start treating you like this? Why should I put up with a group of malcontents who fancy themselves to be some sort of insurgency movement?

Oh shit he discovered the grand organized conspiracy where everyone is out to get him because he is a bad man and testingstan is full of evil vendettopaths!

The conspiracy is so grand and evil that it is out in the open and several mods are/have been members!

Maybe one could call it A certain clique

It is a certain clique, and certain members seem to be waiting for the slightest opportunity to pounce with the accusations of tyranny that they've been saving up during my long absences. You tell me why I should put up with it. Seriously, give me a reason.

MY LIEGE! WHAT HAVE THEY DONE TO YOU?

Man, this is the best thread ever. *bans dissenters* 'STOP CALLING ME A TYRANT' *deletes posts*

Can you just hurry up and put in a rule 'don't argue with Darth Wong'? It's kind of unfair to ban people for breaking an unwritten rule, and if you did write it down we'd all know to avoid drowning in the oceans of fat you inflict on threads, so we could effectively ignore you and get on with talking to interesting & thoughtful people.

Jesus. If you want to kill this place so badly, just delete it off your hardware to make room for some christian-bashing anal-focused porn or something.

Man he has a different coloured name and everything, and he's seriously acting like a dickhead, he's kind of hard to ignore.

And man darth wong, do you even read what you write? The correct response (in your lexicon: the action that would most benefit this community) would be to just go 'lol ok, keep on being stupid' and let everyone see how stupid your opponents are being, not throw a temper tantrum because they are too NARROW MINDED to see your MIGHTY ENGINEER PERSPECTIVE! THE FOOLS!

Well there is the fact that NT isn't that. In fact we spend more time pointing out that adr is a naive fool then we do poking fun at you.

Yeah. Somebody should post screenies of the 10+ page portion of the SDN thread where everybody basically started making fun of adr for his retarded pacifism stance.

NT's opinions are not uniform, and what one person says there should not be taken as a collective statement.

Fine "evilsoup", if you want to be banned too, you're banned too. I really don't give a shit. Plenty of people have argued with me plenty of times without being banned, but there's always been a certain group which loves to accuse me of tyranny at the slightest excuse.

If you want to debate the subject of the thread, go right ahead. But if it's all about personal vendettas or accusations of tyranny, then fine: I'll ban you, exactly like I said would in the fucking rules which have been up for years.

That's why you haven't all been banned already. But certain individuals (and D13 certainly qualifies) have made it their little project to "call out the tyrant" at every opportunity, and I've had that rule up for years. It's not my fault people apparently didn't read it.

Perhaps you don't know how to read the fucking rules of this forum? Perhaps I should do like the regular mods do, and quote the rules when I ban someone for breaking them, because otherwise people throw little shit-fits like you're doing now.

I tried to argue with DW in this thread before it was cool.

But my posts were just too underground for him to hear about them.

Yes, continual accusations of administrative misconduct, moron. Not my fault you can't read. And if you don't like it, go the fuck away. That rule has been up there forever.

Maybe people would stop making accusations of misconduct of the administration stopped behaving so appallingly.

Frankly half the rules are completely irrelevant in the current climate of the board anyway.

But we can't have nay reform because then lord ignoramus might lose face.

I think that's a faux pas in Asian cultures.

You obviously really, really want to get banned. You kept up with the "HELP HELP WE'RE BEING OPPRESSED" theme and when that didn't work, you started race-baiting. Fine, you're banned too. Happy?

It seems like you expect me to run away and hide when you accuse me of abuse of power. Or to beg people to come back if they start leaving. I've created a forum with rules, and if you don't like those rules or constantly agitate against them (or in your case, try to play martyr by race-baiting me so I'll ban you), then I'll ban you and I won't lose any sleep over it. Do you think I spend my waking hours worrying about how popular the forum is?

If people would talk about the actual subject matter and avoid playing games, then there would be no need for all this ridiculous drama. But I'm not going to let malcontents dictate the forum policies here because they think I'm afraid they might think poorly of me.

Or maybe they've come to dislike this place and/or you personally and wish to leave in a way that makes their feelings pretty much as public and high profile as possible?

Just saying.

Holy fuck, that was one of the stupidest things I've seen in a while. Several people ignore the rules which were quite clearly listed, go batshit with their "HURRDURR DARTH WONG IS TYRANT" bull, and then they keep at their whining.

Oh, and then they got banned.

I haven't seen anything like that in what, 2, maybe 3 years when I used to lurk constantly? Dear god. Stupid people have poorer reading comprehension then I thought they did.

Perhaps commenting on a long running issue that you do not fully understand is not sound policy.
