Captain power was fun, And it ended on a cliffhanger too!

Not very often does one of the main characters in a kids show commit suicide to wipe out one of the baddies:

“Surrender by order of Lord Dredd!”
“Go to hell!”

For the era of the 1990s, it was, or at least, it was authorial intent. Trying to be the anti-Trek.

Star Trek shows a future where almost magical devices produce food because of how advanced they are, Babylon 5 is a station growing it's own food, but still has to deal with supply issues, with people complaining about the food quality all the time. Star Trek shows us a paradise where medicines of the future are curing most, if not all ails? Well Babylon 5 shows us that there are still plenty of diseases out there, and though medical technology is better, it's only there for you if you can afford it. Star Trek shows a world in where everyone is seemingly happy? Well here's a station full of gangs, homeless people, disease, strife, strip clubs, casinos, hookers, etc.

The first season episode Believers was supposed to be a big deal because they actually killed off the kid at the end via ritual sacrifice. Note JMS's comments on how edgy and out of the ordinary they were for killing off the kid. Nowadays a kid dying on TV is just something you would see done for sweeps.

Babylon 5 pushed the envelope, but it's grittiness faded with time as we went into further pushing the envelope, and it's now just the new norm. Even cannibalism has been on prime time television now, and trying to shock the audience is a losing battle, so I'm very curious where JMS is going to go here if he wants to do something like that with B5.

Another series going to get sacrificed on the alter of being 'remade' and turned into an absolute mess as modernisation tries to sanatise B5 into a platform for whatever current agendas are running around.

You would be hard pressed to find anyone that is going to put out a performance as many of the old cast without the added modern trends in a lot of remakes.
It's not like B5 was already seriosuly going the way of shit with Legends of the Rangers, Crusader or even the last attempt to do some 'Lost Tales'

I would rather not have a B5 remake that decides to go the way of Discovery or Picard.

I'd be happy if this reboot series was at least as good as Netflix's Lost In Space and doesn't get cancelled after a mere two seasons.

I loved the relationship between G'Kar and Londo. They were great. I'd like to see something like that in the reboot.

Without G'Kar and Londo they might as well not bother. It's not Babylon 5 anymore
'Next time I let Superman take charge, just hit me. Real hard.'
'You're a princess from a society of immortal warriors. I'm a rich kid with issues. Lots of issues.'
'No. No dating for the Batman. It might cut into your brooding time.'
'Tactically we have multiple objectives. So we need to split into teams.'-'Dibs on the Amazon!'
'Hey, we both have a Martian's phone number on our speed dial. I think I deserve the benefit of the doubt.'
'You know, for a guy with like 50 different kinds of vision, you sure are blind.'

I could definitely see Soaron (because he soars, see) defecting, since he was treated like shit. He was my favorite character. Blastarr though, that oaf?

Apparently the new biodread was more advanced, an asshole to Soaron and Blastarr, and they were neglected. They also found out Overminds actual plan, and didn't like it.

Honestly I'm in the cautiously optimistic option about the B5 reboot

Oh, that’s harsh, Blastarr would have survived? Power having to work with the Biodread that caused Pilot’s death would’ve made for an interesting scenario.

Apparently Blastarr and Sauron can regenerate from a few 'cells'. Meaning an asshole Biodread that was say mostly Plasma (as the new one was supposed to be), could burn them down to ash, and they'd still regrow, with their memories intact.....

Working with him would have been hard, absolutely. I think it was one of the plot threads. Been a LONG time since I skimmed those scripts.
