Hello people, I never said the Comanche is totaly replacing the Apache. I said it was replacing all non LONGBOW Apache models. That means the Longbow Apache is NOT being replaced.
FYI the Longbow has greater combat loads then the Comanche (16 Helfires compared to the Comanche having 14). It makes a good combat chopper to move into less restricted areas. The Comanche is designed to either scout an area or to hit an area and open it up for the Apache.

True, but with the budget cuts it looks like we'll be keeping even non-Longbow Apaches for a while yet.
The Army is slightly behind the Air Force in bringing stealth tech into action; the Air Force has stealth aircraft for all its primary combat missions (F-22 for air superiority and limited ground-attack, F-117 for tactical bombing and B-2 for strategic bombing), wheras the Air Force only has a stealth for the recon/light-attack role -- it could really use a larger stealth attack helicopter to replace the Apache and a stealth transport chopper to replace the Blackhawk. With current budget levels, though, it doesn't look like that will happen anytime soon.

No actually, it doesn’t need a stealth heavy attack helicopter and a stealth transport helicopter is highly unnecessary. If that stealth ever becomes relevant then there has been a huge fuckup along the line. Notice how the USAF only cares about range and capacity for its next generation transport aircraft, most of which would be in service well past 2050.
