Well, this is getting old hat for Thanny, isn't it? He was on a pretty big power trip with the Infinity Gauntlet as well. If it wasn't for the fact that you could take him out by pulling off his glove, that trinket made him essentially unstoppable.

As always with Thanos, it will be his own insanity and overconfidence that causes his ultimate downfall.

He's been a god before, this is nothing different.

Notice only three characters are actually hitting Thanos - Thor, Hulk and Ironman. Onslaught took direct hits from these guys and only recieved a crack in his armor.

Thanos takes out a Celestial
Well, he is a good. Plus that might've been a weaker Celestial. Besides, how did he become a god in the first place? I do like the fact that they included Abomination in the battle.

Tribunal and friends fire blasts at Thanos, not even scratching him
Notice that they're using one hand (that head is excluded), instead of both hands. Again, we don't know how he became a god.

Wow, Thanos took a shot to the nads from the Hulk! Low blow!
Hah hah! Those Celestial pricks bothered me. Go Thanos!
Huh, and here I thought that the Living Tribunal destroyed whole universes at a whim in order to maintain balance and Beyonder their whipped the all Celestials once... OK, that's officially a Marvel Wankwest.

Maybe that Heart of Infinity weakened the other gods? That would explain why they needed various heros to fight Thanos.

Sadly nope.

Starlin basically makes it out to be yet another end all-be all of uber power(like the infinity gauntlet and Cosmic Cube)

And then he decides that this is worthy enough to write a six part....Thanos Monologue

I'm serious that entire mini series read as if Thanos was babbling to himself for six issues with oh wait fight...back to babbling some more.

Very disappointing...Starlin really lost something when writing it because it was both him jacking off to Thanos and deciding we NEED to hear his inner monologue to fully see the beauty of the character.

The only thing that was halfway decent about The End was that Dr. Doom was the only one to show any signs of brains. The fact that a brand new all-powerful villain was thrust into your face, only to be eradicated two issues later was somewhat anticlimactic.

Well, at least Thanos killed himself in the end. Kinda. Sorta.

Hell, I don't know.

You do know there's an unlimited series of him planned written by Starlin

So he's about as dead as Norman OsbornFucking A, I despised that they brought him back.

Not as bad...but damn, damn close.

Seriously Starlin must use Thanos as some image for masturbation because his last couple miniseries have been nothing but.

Ah. This is why I've stayed away from Marvel comics... My last foray was the Onslaught story arc.

I am glad they finally started increasing the power of Apocalypse in that series. He went from wussie shape shifting foe of X-Factor to immortal (relatively speaking) who is aware of and talks to the Watcher.

The Watcher says something about the "Nobility" of humanity, after Sue Richards and Cable stop Apocalypse from killing the Richards' child (who was/is a vast source of Onslaught's power).

Apocalypse... "We shall see who is left to revel in their vaunted nobility, after Onslaught destroys it all..."

Was Apocalypse killed again? Or supposedly killed, after killing Cyclops, and then possessing him and then jerking off to bad porn or- You get the idea...

As far as I know, he's still dead as a doornail after they "shattered" his psycic form.

They really need a good writer for him, because hes wasted almost every time. The entire Twelve thing could have been infinitly better if it wasn't basically a simple quest to power himself up. Only the Age of Apocalypse stuff and his two issue appearance in Hulk ever really did him justice.

The only reason I'm so bitter about it is because I started liking Apocalypse because of the Fox cartoon, which was very well done until the last season. In that, Apoc was never really beaten, and kicked so much ass. Meanwhile in the comics he can go from dropping the Gold Team in under a minute and taking on the likes of Loki and the Inhumans on his own, to getting whipped by Cable and manipulated by Mr. Sinister on a daily basis.

But what else should I do while asking for consistancy in comics? Demand the ocean stand still? :P

People. People.

"The End" was an Elseworlds/What If story.

Its *not* canon. Its *not* in continuity. It *don't* count for shit.

Besides. If you read the story, you know Thanos was *tricked* into getting this all new and uber *Heart of the Universe* power for the sole purpose of restoring balance to the Universe.

.......Which he does. And of course, as sweet icing on the cake as far as the universe's inhabitants are concerned, Thanos is also destroyed as consequence in the end.

(Not to mention. This certainly isn't the first time the Living Tribunal has jobbed in order to restore balance to the Universe, or whatever that mumbo jumbo is supposed to mean. Anybody remember the Beyonder?)

Actually Starlin says that the events of The End will and do affect the MU...just like his Infinity Storyline.

Nothing Marvel does except Crossover/Movies counts as out of universe.

And he is getting a series because of said events in The End.

The Infinity stuff was *in* continuity. "The End" is not.

I don't care *WHAT* Starlin Said. Editor's decree takes precedence.

And Thanos is getting a new series because The End *sold* so well, GR. *Not* because of what happened in the stinking story.

Ah so Joe Q in the same interview they had with him and Starlin about what the effects of The End said...zero effects.

The words were...there would residual effect of Thanos' actions but his end result would not be applied.

The End in of itself would only apply as a possible end...but the effects of what Thanos did were Marvel canon.

Or are you saying that Starlin just misinterpreted?

It really sucks that marvel cannot write Thanos well because he is a conceptually beautiful character. An aristocratic pseudovillian who while furthering his own ambition can be both good or evil without changing personality. And his whole "damn I wanna bang Death so bad" is appealing and semicomical. He could be an interesting foil for smaller villians and heros alike and yet only gets put into the "I am gonna be a GOD!!!" stories.
