Which visual style do you prefer more?

Post by corporial »

Okay this is simple:
Do you prefer the plastic models of old, or the CGI used now?

As far as Yoda, plastic still kicks CGI's booty.

I'm not voting because I think both are equally good (in fact, models are still in common use).

However, as a model builder and nostalgic effects cinema fan, I'll have to lean a little to models.

As cool as the model Yoda is, I have to go with the CGI Yoda. I say even without the lightsabre duel, Yoda was the star of AoTC.

I was referring to the use of plastic ship models vs. CGI ship models, but if you want to include Yoda I guess it's okay. Next time I'll be a bit clearer.

Personally, on techinical things such as ships I'll go with CGI. Most of the time, you really can't tell it's not real, and you can do just so much more with them. ESB and RotJ really showed what they could do, but then again, you could feel how they weren't all together in a scene. Where as with CGI they are all there together.

Well, CGI as far as ships, but that is just because GL as done a good job with them. Some CGI sci-fi ships on TV today look like crap.

I prefer plastic over CGI. But slowly I'm beginning to like GDI more.

At first I didn't quite like it. Look at Jabba in ANH special edition, than compare him in ROTJ. I know, CGI was the only way to put him in Ep IV, but I never liked the way they maked him in Special Edition.

But I must say that Yoda was perfect in AOTC so probably that with time I'm going to appreciate more this new technology.

For far away ships, CGI is fine. For close, definately plastic.

I really don't know, I guess CGI, cause you can have much more freedom when you use them. For example ANH special edtion, the pilots head's in the cockpit moved!
