SDN - Diplomacy - Game 3 any takers?

Post by Spoonist »

So we have had two attempts at SDN diplomacy games.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diplomacy_(game)

The last one got abandoned because of the human factor of a moderator for the game.
However since then there is a living community at
http://www.playdiplomacy.com/
where one can set up a "friends" game which is moderated by the AI system, which is much better.

So any takers?
Any questions?

I've never played Diplomacy before - it sounds interesting though so I'm willing to give it a shot.

I'm currently controlling Austria in another board's game, but that board doesn't take the Diplomacy aspect very seriously. I'd love to join.

I'll wait until we have at least 7 takers who have created accounts on PlayDip, then I'll create a game and invite you in.

If you have created an account with a different name over there than the one over here then give us the account name as well.

I might be able to join. I'm going to a meeting at 3:00 (Central Daylight Time) to see if I can loosen up my college schedule a little...if that goes well, I'll join in. :)

I'm sure a bunch of us would be falling over to to atg's backer :P

Though how should we decide who gets what nation? That can be something that can cause people to start fighting before the game even begins after all.

With backer I meant someone besides the other players... As in someone outside the board to ask for advice.

Country selection is handled in the playdippy engine so we can cry bitch and moan when we get it started.

Now we are only waiting for the lamb hrm I mean noob, hrm I mean atg.
:angelic:

A big tip to atg (if he is not simply hustling us, first time indeed  ) is to talk/dippy with the countries on the other side of the map that you don't share a border with. That way they will give you better tips & tricks than your very friendly neighbours.
