Eh. I've found this a more succinct summary than the release presentation I linked above. The idea has merit, I think; the problem here is that really they released it as a public beta before really determining everything they want it to do themselves.

Got the invite, been playing around with it and it seems pretty neat. With a dice-roller plugin (which I will write if necessary) this makes an excellent platform for playing RPGs online. It has much greater accessibility than stuff like OpenRPG and a better sense of permanence too. I'm not sure how long these 'waves' stick around, but knowing Google, probably indefinitely.

I also have a few invites to give out now, to further our satanic binding ritual.

So. . .it's like a cross between an email, a chat system and a message board?

Sent. Saving my last one, so no more from me. Don't forget to keep the pyramid going, guys. :)

Well, seeing what was posted while I was posting, I suppose not sent. Good thing I posted acknowledgment before actually doing the sending.

Invite sent. (or more properly, nominated for invitation. I can't send it, you are nominated and accordingly bumped up the queue.)

The big thing they have is colaborative editing. Of course there were several solutions forthat before, but none were as easy to use and had that many pretty colours. (Gobby is fugly and a pain in the ass to use and Mozilla Bespin isn't usable yet) So yeah, Wave is/will be an easy way to get people together to work on the same document.

This is pre-WWII. You can sort of tell from the sketch style, from thee way it refers to Japan (Japan in the 1950s was still rebuilding from WWII), the spelling of Tokyo, lots of details. Nothing obvious... except that the upper right hand corner of the page reads "November 1931." --- Simon_Jester

ghetto edit: At the moment all waves seem to be nothing more than chats that have been edited later on. Since we use gobby for our collaborative editing, I don't see the benefit in wave in terms of productivity.
