And do something that's:

A) Not a gaming trend.

B) Not Star Wars

C) Likely to benefit it's old-school fans

D) Not shitting all over it's fanbase

When Hitler goes ice-skating is when THAT happens. Fuck you, LA, AND all your fucking-up of games.....

For me it's either Jumpan or Space Invaders (which came also with a star trek-esque choose-your own adventure game, and another game called martian or lunar lander. I started playing those two games on my Compaq in 1986.

The first game I ever played on an Apple was Oregon trail, and that was in 1988.
Sesame street math, on the commodore 64, as well as some amazon combat rambo game.

Oregon Trail. The one where you still had to walk around to hunt, instead of having the nice little static image with animals hopping across for you to mouse over and shoot at.

And if your last character died, you could inscribe something on their tombstone and it would be saved to the floppy. The Oregon Trail disks in my elementary school computer room had some interesting tombstones on them.
If Religion and Politics were characters on a soap opera, Religion would be the one that goes insane with jealousy over Politics' intimate relationship with Reality, and secretly murder Politics in the night, skin the corpse, and run around its apartment wearing the skin like a cape shouting "My votes now! Indeed, from curse words to the just plain funny. I had a friend who named all his people after Loony Tunes characters. When he died, he wrote "That's All Folks" on the tombstone.
"I want to mow down a bunch of motherfuckers with absurdly large weapons and relative impunity - preferably in and around a skyscraper. Then I want to fight a grim battle against the unlikely duo of the Terminator and Robocop. First owned:

Quite possibly The Journeyman Project. If it wasn't that, it was Sim City.

First played:

Hell if I know. Something off of two CDs, both dating from 1992, one with mostly commercial game demos, the other with mostly freeware/shareware, HyperCard stacks, WorldBuilder games, and text adventures. I'll name some off the top of my head:

- Hoodwinked, a Star Trek TOS themed HyperCard stack where you have to explore the derelict U.S.S. Hood, whose crew has is phasing in and out and has gone insane, due to passing through the anomaly from The Tholian Web.

- Intruder II: A text-based WorldBuilder game where you are sent to investigate an abandoned lab with some sort of portal to another world inside.

- SPECTRE: Demo of multiplayer tank game with slick (for the time) abstract polygon graphics.

- Solarian II: Shareware Space Invaders clone with decent graphics.

- Theldrow: First-person RPG.

- Gnop: Pong clone by Bungie, who would of course later go on to develop Pathways into Darkness and Marathon.

- Bloodsuckers: Whack-a-mole style game where you have to swat waves of mosquitoes before they suck away all your blood. Developed by Pangaea, who would later go on to develop some mediocre kids' games that get shipped with new Macs.

- Lemmings: Guide the lemmings through hazards by having them build stairs or dig tunnels.
"This war, all around us, is being fought over the very meanings of words." - Chad, Deus Ex

My first game was Ribbit on the Apple IIc. You had a frog who would stick out his tongue a certain length depending on how far you moved the mouse while holding down the button. Your goal was to catch flies that flew over top of him at varying distances.
