nurse told Sedghi's daughter that her father was given a shot of morphine before he passed away, that no oxygen was administered and staff did not call an ambulance. "No one was there and he died alone,"
Essentially, a new article in nature scorched Sweden let her rip approach, pointing out how politics captured the science, how experts were ignored and constant exhortions of herd immunity was made despite failure to achieve so.

Two elements emerged
Many elderly people were administered morphine instead of oxygen despite available supplies, effectively ending their lives. If
Even though oxygen prevents Covid pt from dying, elderly were given comfort care and allowed to perish.

Both the Prime Minister and Minister of Health and Social Affairs publicly declared they had no competence considering pandemics or medical issues. In effect the democratic institutions ceased to function (Sörensen, 2020). The Public Health Agency strived for and asked early for an overarching impact on the decision-making, which was granted by the government (Kleja, 2020). The Agency managed in this way to control the total decision-making of the government.
We essentially had a Ultraviolet or V for Vendetta plot villain pop up in real life.

In swedish, but according to the tweet, decisions about palliative care was made without consultation with family members.

It's been asserted that nursing homes were following guidelines from the government which stated that if they were dependent on nursing care (it appears to be anyone requiring moderate to severe nursing assistence for ADL, cat 3 or 4 depending on which assessment scale you using )

https://www.reddit.com/r/Coronavirus/comments/jaa1cx/sweden_why_did_the_elderly_have_to_die_without/

The reddit thread has a translation, although original source is in swedish.

Under "Guidance on medical prioritization" in the "Governing regulations" it appears: Elderly patients should preferably not be sent to hospital. "As far as possible, treat medical complications on site." If the person also has memory problems and easily gets tired during the day, no samples should be taken either. "Medical decisions are made on clinical assessment; laboratory examination and X-ray are used only in exceptional cases. " And if the patient has previously had difficulty walking up stairs, needed help with cooking or hygiene and also used to forget what has just been said, emergency care is excluded, except "in case of emergency surgical baction". That is, if the patient breaks something

So... To summarize. We literally just had our socialist death panels in real life happen in Sweden. We now know why so many elderly swedes died in nursing homes and why unlike the rest of Europe, mortality rates did not decline as medical care improved.

(Times assertion of US mortality rates is true but that's due to the sheer scale of the waves involved. )

But. The death panels were doing what the right wing, be it Tucker Carlson, De Santi's and etc wanted all along....

But does it prevent permanent vascular damage that severely reduces quality of life even in previously healthy people, let alone someone who's already pretty close to bedridden and/or suffering from dementia? There are going to be cases where even an oxygen mask isn't really in the patient's best interests, let alone a full ventilator.

That said, if this was applied to any elderly patient who had not previously had a DNAR order put in place according to proper procedure then someone should and hopefully will be in extremely hot water for this.
There are hardly any excesses of the most crazed psychopath that cannot easily be duplicated by a normal kindly family man who just comes in to work every day and has a job to do.

Replace "ginger" with "n*gger," and suddenly it become a lot less funny, doesn't it?

Even if we go Quality of Life suggests this is acceptable, the fact still remains that Sweden did nothing to prevent these people from getting Covid.
