For most people who are undecided, its going to be all too complicated for most of them to get a firm grasp on how much of a cheat he is. And for the Trump supporters, well, from their point of view NOT Paying taxes is a good thing. Trump worming out of owning thing simply shows how "Smart" he is.
The simple message here is that Trump paid minimal taxes because he lost a lot of money in a shitload of businesses that he ran. Showing him to be terrible at running businesses.

In 2016, one of the arguments from Trump supporters for him being president was that he was a successful businessman. They ignored the bankrupt casinos by saying that, if you run enough businesses, some are bound to fail. But now we see that almost every business Trump ran was losing money.

US Google searches about moving to New Zealand skyrocket during Presidential debate

Not a headline I'd expect to see if the debate was anything other than a shitshow. Good thing I'll only be seeing whatever highlights make the evening news.

No Biden could have won it, if he had bothered to prepare to go up against Donald Trump rather than who he thought he would be debating which I'm guessing is... Mitt Romney?

1. Push Trump
When the first question started and Biden switched from Trump's utter nonsense (Lots of liberals have endorsed my supreme court pick, who are those liberals? Lots of liberals) to pivot to a affordable heathcare act talking point I knew things were going to go bad

2. Prompt Trump
Getting Donald Trump to take a stand on something results in him saying something bad shit insane, just ask him his position on something and be amazed at what comes out.

3. Punch Trump
Challenge him, Trump has demonstrated when he's rattled he runs away or shuts down (See the 2016 debates) you just need to get him a little out of his zone and you might get him dropping the N Word on live TV.

You have to assume he's going to lie, you have to assume he's going to talk complete nonsense, you should not be approaching the next debate as a debate but as a cross examination. Pick at him, you don't need to say much yourself but after you've got him angry back off and share a nice anecdote and watch him get angry.

A good debater would have done that. But I don't think Biden is that good a debater, based on last night and the primaries.

Probably true. On the other hand, he knows good debaters, and if Trump doesn't slope off and coward out of having another go, Biden's going to have time to prepare for another go.

We may yet not be disappointed.

He had all the time in the world to prepare for this one. So I don't see why he would magically improve.

Also, the Trump tactic of "shout and interrupt a lot" is extra effective against someone who used to stutter. So there's that too.

Honestly the moderator needs to be able to cut the mic for the participants if they get out of line. Well it's really just Trump, and a shock collar would be better.

I understand the next debate is gonna be more like a town hall kinda thing and include questions from the people, hopefully there are some people there who can really rile him the fuck up.

Next time around they will be, according to the BBC: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/election-us-2020-54366618

It says that they could have mic cutting. Nothing solid yet.

As I understand it, they need both campaigns' agreement on a rule like that.

I have to wonder. What does the Secret Service do if two people they're tasked with guarding get into a physical altercation?

I suppose one of them is the guy in charge, but still.

I would assume wrestle them off each other, nobody else in the room has guns if they've done their jobs correctly and they're not going to turn it into a blue-on-blue shoot-out themselves.

The job description probably says they are to separate them using a minimum of force... But I could also see them just standing back and making bets.

WELP.

Even given the low thread activity, I'm kind of surprised no one has posted this. But in any case, our commentary on the debates is now irrelevant, what with Trump having coronavirus.

What do people think is gonna happen now?

I'm hoping that Trump decided that he wants to do the next debate over the internet. Instead of Trump at a podium, it's Trump on a giant screen.

Probably they settle on a remote debate at some point. Unless Trump takes a severe turn for the worse, which is entirely possible.

If it's bad enough you need to go to the hospital COVID is not done with you for at least a week and earliest test result is Thursday. Chances are he's not better but Doctors might think he's at the point where the White House can take care of him/he's overruled his doctors.

Trump overruling his doctors....

You know, when most people this age do that, it turns out badly. Like, real bad. Like, the worse bad. So bad. You can't be badder. It's so bad, it's worse. So worse, the worse. As in, worse case.

Makes me wonder if he knows he's dying, and just wants to die in the White House.
I've been asked why I still follow a few of the people I know on Facebook with 'interesting political habits and view points'.

It's so when they comment on or approve of something, I know what pages to block/what not to vote for.

It'd make an awesome spy thriller about 20 years down the line. Maybe something in the Jack Ryan series...
