Hmmm... that's always been a point of debate, and a messy one.
2. He's arrogant, stupid, and agressive
Arrogant? I think he's awfully self-righeous, I'll admit. I actually don't think he's so much stupid as he has no foresight or concern for international relations. Aggressive, yeah, and quite a gambler, which is good if you win but if not...
3. He turned the world against our country
That is undeniable. He pissed away the world feeling after 9/11, bad move.
4. He's taken us to war at the cost of the lives of soldiers with bright futures for bullshit reasons.
I do think we have good reasons for the war, although I admit that expert diplomacy could have circumnavigated the situation-- but it would have had to have bene expert diplomacy that started decades before, so that's not entirely Bush's fault but a problem the US foreign policy has had for awhile.
5. He did nothing about the Enron, Worldcom, etc. scandals.
True, but it was lose-lose. A bailout would look like, well... a bailout. Of fat cat buddies. Those businsess deserved to fail, not get propped up by taxpayer money.
6. He cut taxes for the rich, and cut programs for the poor.
I think there is some merit to the idea that rich people, given the opportunity to invest, will do so to the benefit of the economy. But it would be even better still to close the massive loopholes that exist at the same time, so the businesses and so on would at least be paying their fair share.
7. He promotes destruction of the wall between church and state.
This is an area worth watching but so far I don't think he's been as bad as some folks say-- but then again, I am a person who is open minded about religion so I won't see this in the same way.
8. He's a liar (eg. "Saddam and his terrorist allies").
Heh, this is where Hameru and I got into it. Bush lies, Saddam lies, the French lie... they are all a bunch of shits. I think we had enough reason to argue this war without resorting to bullshit.
9. He's an ex-cokehead turned born-again. Honestly, when your president has the characteristics of the Bible thumping McDonald's employee who shows up at everyone's high-school reunion, we've got some serious fucking problems.
Maybe, but face it, Clinton wasn't exactly a paragon of moral virtue either, and he really did come off as the missing third member of Beavis and Butt-head. As many commentators pointed out during the Clinton years, "sure, he's a hoser, but that doesn't mean he can't be president".
10. The people that do his thinking for him are some of the worst, most immoral people on the face of the planet (make no mistake, the real Axis of Evil is Ashcroft, Cheney, and Rumsfeld)
Kinda hyperbole, dontcha think? Compared to the proven cruelties of the Iraqi, Iranian, and North Korean regimes? Powell and Rice are, I'd wager, some of the sharpest folks in the country, Ash-Chen-Rum are not the only ones there.
11. He's pissed all over the Bill of Rights with this Patriot Act horseshit. Perhaps you haven't noticed that you don't have the right to due process or trial by jury anymore.
This is creepy and kinda Orwellian, indeed.

9/11 was a golden opportunity for Bush to engage in the world in a serious housecleaning-- there would have been some war involved (ie, Afghanistan) but I think others, especially in the Islamic world, were ready for some frank and honest dealing with the problems in their midst. It got pissed away.
Something about Libertarianism always bothered me. Then one day, I realized what it was:
Libertarian philosophy can be boiled down to the phrase, "Work Will Make You Free."

In Libertarianism, there is no Government, so the Bosses are free to exploit the Workers.
In Communism, there is no Government, so the Workers are free to exploit the Bosses.
So in Libertarianism, man exploits man, but in Communism, its the other way around!

The evidence is pretty circumstantial, I think he did, but maybe that's just because I don't like him *shrug*. I'm willing to retract that claim.
2. He's arrogant, stupid, and agressive

I've already made my case for more sinister reasons for war in previous posts, so I won't repeat myself, but even assuming that we're just there to clean up our mess, I think we should have cut our losses instead. If you clean up a previous mess and make another one, then you clean up that one and make yet another, when does it stop?
5. He did nothing about the Enron, Worldcom, etc. scandals.
True, but it was lose-lose. A bailout would look like, well... a bailout. Of fat cat buddies. Those businsess deserved to fail, not get propped up by taxpayer money.
He didn't pursue legislation to correct accounting problems or erect checks and balances against CEOs sailing away with a failing company's money at the expense of shareholders. I agree that he couldn't have done much about Enron, but he could have at least tried to prevent Worldcom and the others.

Not as bad as some folks say, certainly, and surely not as bad as someone like Falwell would be in the same position (shudder), but a danger to religious freedom none-the-less.
8. He's a liar (eg. "Saddam and his terrorist allies").
Heh, this is where Hameru and I got into it. Bush lies, Saddam lies, the French lie... they are all a bunch of shits. I think we had enough reason to argue this war without resorting to bullshit.
It's true that virtually all politicians lie. I was just seething over the way he got up on TV and told the American public during the ultimatum that Saddam had terrorist allies.
9. He's an ex-cokehead turned born-again. Honestly, when your president has the characteristics of the Bible thumping McDonald's employee who shows up at everyone's high-school reunion, we've got some serious fucking problems.

I don't excuse Clinton of that any more readily than Bush.
10. The people that do his thinking for him are some of the worst, most immoral people on the face of the planet (make no mistake, the real Axis of Evil is Ashcroft, Cheney, and Rumsfeld)

I fear the Bush administration a lot more than I fear the so-called Axis of Evil (which isn't even an axis, since that implies an alliance or at least friendship). But then, I feel more threatened by just about anything than the made-up boogeymen of anthrax attacks or some such nonsense (well, at least they're made-up boogeymen now, if this whole thing goes badly enough, terrorist attacks could become a common occurance *shudder* *cross fingers*)
11. He's pissed all over the Bill of Rights with this Patriot Act horseshit. Perhaps you haven't noticed that you don't have the right to due process or trial by jury anymore.

Good thing there's a moratorium on I/P threads, we seem to be able to have civil discussion about other topics :D

That and it contains 3 countries whose locations aren't on an axis. You can't have an axis if you can't draw a straight line connecting all the specified points on it. He should have called it the "2-Dimensional Cartesian Coordinate System of Evil," but I don't think that would have sounded as pointlessly-dramatic as "Axis of Evil."

I can't think of a better way for an anti-war person to show support for the troops than by saying, "Gee, I wish you guys weren't over there risking your lives, because I don't think you have to be."

You should be proud, Coyote. A compliment from the master. :D

Oh come now, the original Axis powers were Germany, Italy and Japan, hardly a straight line :P :P

That doesn't make it any less stupid. The fact that Bush repeated such a mistake proves my point. You can't have a fucking axis with three points that aren't on the same line! Now we know why politicians are politicians: they're too stupid to do even the simplest of maths.

EDIT: I think I'm going to do something like that the next test I take or lab I hand in. I'll draw a graph and label the axes as "Axis of Evil" and "USA".
