In recent weeks, they have cited the case of a Philadelphia-area clinic recently shut down after authorities discovered a series of botched and illegal abortions; inspectors discovered containers of fetus parts.
The case this is referring to is a recent case of a truly horrific failure to provide basic conditions of safety and sanitary care for women making use of its services. It is literally the most nightmarish failure of medical care I can imagine.
Not to be morbid or anything, but what exactly does one expect to find at an abortion clinic if not containers of fetuses waiting for orderly disposal? Now I'm sure the actual investigators found something quite inappropriate and counter to current safety standards, and as I just ate a big meal I won't be reading the charge-list at this time, but that's like saying the health inspector went to a restaurant and found containers of food. What would be notable is if you found those containers in the bathroom. It's just bad writing.

And that's sort of the point; this clinic in Philly wasn't following ANY of the highly relevant rules for abortion clinics currently in force. A problem in Philly does not equal a problem in VA. And even if it did, the solution wouldn't be draconian regulations requiring abortion clinics to have ambulance bays and the ability to perform open-heart surgery on the premises; it would be to enforce current regulations governing abortion clinics.

You mean something other than the numerous murdered mothers who died because of grossly insufficient medical conditions?

The most relevant thing is this.

A number of states, Virginia included, have literally stopped doing health inspections of abortion clinics. Virginia wants to do more regular inspections. That isn't unreasonable.

No one says it is. What IS unreasonable is demanding the same standards for an abortion-clinic than for a full hospital. It would be like demanding that a dentists office has an emergency room - it doesn't improve that service at all.

An abortion clinic needs the facilities necessary to perform a safe abortion, which of course includes sterile instruments and such. It does NOT need medical emergence facilities or anything like that - demanding that IS in fact solely a barrier for abortions.
