Found that site while looking for info about Captain Maxwell, their uniform section is pretty cool and they have a officer database on practically every officer that has appeared in Trek. I have checked the ship database yet, but this site looks pretty nice.

After taking a look at the TOS Movie era uniforms, and uniforms after that period, all I can say is: What the hell happened?! The Movie era uniforms are militaristic and professional looking, and the engineers and security corps actually had protective suits or armor! Compare that to future series, where they both have no protection, and are running around in pajamas.

The thing that bugs me about no protection for the engineers in post TNG is that how many times have we seen the engine room fill with some sort of gas thats toxic? At least several times, everyone has to flee, and the containment door shuts. If they had those protective suits (which came with sealed helmets in the pics) that wouldnt need to happen, and the leak could be fixed easier. Plus, no one would be left in there to die, which has happened at least once. I remember one episode of TNG where Troi had to order a holo-Geordi to his death during a simulation. Dialogue says hed die from radiation (wheres that vaccine when you need it?  ) In the pics for the movie era uniforms, theres one labeled as a rad-protection suit. Where is that in TNG?!

Damn thats a nice site. And yes, the TOS era movie uniforms were the best. They still sorta used the uniforms later on, but they used the outer jacket like part without the inner shirt. Had to be very uncomfortable to wear. ST:2-ST:6 had the best stuff.

While the movie-era uniforms (non-specialized) look cooler, I would much rather serve in a TOS-era uniform.
