Have a look at anim8or as well. I haven't used it before so I have no idea if it's easy to use or not.

Wings 3D is an excellent free modelling program that will allow one to generate 3D models suitable for use with a renderer. It will also permit texturing of those models, and provides a decent, if sometimes buggy, standalone renderer suitable to give you an idea of how the final result might look.

Well, for me? No, but that's only because I think my brain just simply isn't wired the right way to find it intuitive enough to work with: I'm so used to working with my hands to build something that doing it in a computer is simply too far removed for me. I've managed to build some very, very basic stuff with it, though, basically just practice shit to figure out what the hell I'm doing.

Again, that's just with me: I can barely use Final Cut Pro either because it's also very non-intuitive for me, personally.

But it works exactly like virtually every other 3D programme on the market, and is actually pretty high-end in capabilities. The only difference is that it's free rather than costing like $300...

Oh, and while Blender is free, you can buy this huge 750+ page manual for it that costs 40 Euro.

It might be. I haven't used it personally, but people usually either love it or call it too complex and hate it. So I suspect it's average for a 3d program with all the expected features. And on the good side, I've seen fairly good results from it, so it's not like most of the other free/cheap stuff where your work will be really poor quality. So you won't be frustrated with poor results and just give up.

Oh yeah...

But I figured it was spiffy professional stuff, not amateur n00b stuff. Is it easy?

For every decent 3D programm you will have to invest some time (10h+) to
learn the basics. I wouldnt call Blender professional, but you can get quite
good results out of it.

In any case it's the best free 3D software out there, which provides
the most functionality.
