Blender w/ GIMP for texturing, occasionally using Yafray for rendering.

if can call it art, I use MS Pain(t) (and now have started to use Gimp to enhance the pictures).

GIMP (I don't see the need to pirate Photoshop), plus IrfanView for lightweight stuff.

Oddly enough, both Paint Shop Pro and PhotoShop.

I used to use psp and photoshop, but I've found out how to do pretty much everything I need to in photoshop, so I just use that and a scanner.

AutoCAD for modeling mechanical stuff.

3dsmax 6 for modeling organic stuff and scene setup.

Paint Shop Pro for textures.

Vray (render plugin for 3dsmax) for rendering.

Pencil/pen/paper for that ancient primitive stuff.

I use pencil and paper for drawing.

For digital artwork, I use the following:
Paint Shop Pro ver. 5 for compositing renders and backgrounds together. I also use it to process images from my cheap digital cameras.

Adobe Photoshop ver. 7 for artistic effects on images generated by PSP (i.e. zoom blurs, and lens flares.)

Wings 3D for modeling and renders.

And lately, Terragen for landscape renders.

<Addendum:>
For an example of all my artwork steps from start to finish, look below.

ArcSoft PhotoImpression 3, a program that came with a webcam. I use this for layering, precise cosmetic changes, elaborate effects, and adding text.

MSPaint for drawing from scratch and formerly for manipulating photos.

IrfanView for filing, resizing, and changing color properties.

Terragen for 3D landscapes.

I just started using Blender.

And I can use Terragen and PhotoStudio in conjunction. For example, I can enliven photos by changing from an overcast to more fantastic sky, or add photos of people or objects to a Terragen-rendered backround, sometimes with deceptive realism.

I sometimes use pencil and paper, mostly for figures and organic shapes, but it often tends to crash.

A film camera, scanner, and Photoshop. Once in a great while I'll draw something on paper and scan it or use AutoCAD. Also played around with Terragen a while back.

Photoshop for most coloring, as well as effects, scanning, and editing and such. For pixel art I use Multimedia Fusion's built-in graphics editor, which is basically just a slightly more sprite-friendly MS-Paint (selections that automatically crop out transparent areas, etc.).

Gimp
Apophysis
(no, not both for the same kind of art :D)
Terragen (I'm learning it)
Blender (haven't used it in ages but I have made things with every so often)
Paint.net (I've tried it but rarely use it for 3 reasons. For 1 the Gimp is better. For 2 I know how to use the Gimp. For 3 I feel dirty everytime I make something in it for some reason.)

 You're still using FIVE!?!?!? Personally, I use 9. It's loads better than 5. (And I've been using every odd number of PSP since 3.) It's got the same basic UI, so it's not too much different, I don't think. Then again, I went 3, 5, 7 and finally to 9. >.>

Sure, one of these days, I'll upgrade, but PSP 5 does everything that I need it to do, so I'm presently unconvinced on the need to upgrade to PSP 9.

Which leads to a question: How is 9 'loads better' than 5?

Well, for someone like me who does a lot of intensive things to image, it just has a lot more options and filters and things to use. One of the BIGGEST things about it that I was happy to come across in the switch from 7 to 9 was the 'One Step Photo Fix' option. Usually it makes photos that are not contrasted enough look so much better. And the colour balance options are a lot more sensitive, but also a lot easier to do to get just the right effect.

The question should not be "Does this do what I need to do?" but rather should be "does this do what I need to do better? And if so, how much better and for what cost?"

Paintshop Pro 8 for most of my sigs, Photoshop Elements 2.0 for a few other things.

Trying to learn Blender, but it hurts and confuses us.
