Tonight I ordered a Ryzen 7 5800X for less than $200. I decided to look up the current pricing of my current CPU, a Ryzen 7 2700X and found that it's going for upwards of $400. Why so high? I haven't that much when I first got it.
Why is the 2700X priced higher than the 5800X?

I've ended up getting a keyboard with built in trackball center left of the keyboard. It's not perfect but it'll do.

Re: Need help looking for a mouse.
Isn't that usually something that depends on the GAME settings, not the rodent? I.e. moving the rodent relative up means you move forward, moving the rodent up while holding down the left button means your view tilts upwards, and so on. I think there are some with built-in hat switches or thumbstic...

Need help looking for a mouse.
As some of you may know, last August I was diagnosed with Parkinson's(*), which is affecting the right side of my body (sluggishness of limb response, twitchy hand, etc..). Heck, even before the diagnosis I had trouble with fine motor control with my right arm, preventing me to properly play FPS and...

I do QA at work, so I go around inspecting assembly areas. ME, inspecting a co-workers work. Mullet Man [pretending to be a dude-bro tough guy]: YO <ME>! You're in the wrong block bro! You're in the wrong block! ME, quickly retorting: Of course I don't belong there. I don't belong in Sesame Street. ...

Re: Doctor Who: Jodie Whittaker and Chris Chibnall to leave in 2022
I found the thirteenth Doctor's companions more interesting than the Doctor herself. I barely managed to watch Whittaker's first season and special. Didn't bother with the rest. I'll probably buy the box set after she leaves. I have nothing against Jodie, but there's no emotional investment with her...

Today I learned that I can't watch Johnny Cash's version of "Hurt" and not end up teary eyed. I mean, I've listened to that song many, many times but never saw the video until today.

It may been quite a while since I've read a Discworld novel, but to me I find the portrayal of Vimes to be off. I like the character but to me it isn't true the novels. I've always pictured him as a world weary every day man, a police captain that knows how the world work, yet still try to uphold th...

If ammonium nitrate is about half as powerful as TNT, and they had 2.5-3 tons of it, then that alone -not counting the grain silo or fireworks warehouse- was about 1/5th the explosive power as the atomic bomb dropped on Hiroshima. Can someone check my math here? Not 2.5 to 3 tons. Its 2,750 tonnes.

Since when does Amazon subcontract to the postal service anyway? Everything I've bought off them has been delivered by their own drivers, and I thought that was standard worldwide. This is weird. https://www.beyondships2.com/faq-bulbous-bow.html Bulbous bow is not ice breaker (normally) but is stream liner. Icebreaker design below is basically shallow front hull that climbs and uses reinforced ship spin to bring full weight down on ice. I wonder if the attempted shouldering c...
