Currently using Ubuntu Feisty. Decided to go for the leap to Linux because of the incoming support withdrawal of XP and I don't really want to go to Vista yet. Plus we're building a LAMP dialler platform, thought i'd best get my brains into a linux install. Feisty seems to be stable for me. Took me ...

A friend of mine used to think salt was there to cool your food down.

And being a bit mean me and my cousin managed to convince his sister that Kidney beans were mice kindeys. She believed this for quite a few years.

I don't really understand why a body can't be considered a planet simply because it's within an asteroid belt or such. If the object is large/massive enough to become roughly spherical under it's own gravity, and orbits a star, then it's planet in my view. The fact that this increases the number of...

On a related note, the new self service tills at Tesco here don't ask for any form of ID when you use a card. You just swipte and it prints your reciept, no request for a pin. I really need to get round to pointing out the blatant security hole to them. Anyone can use anyones card in them without b...

Credit/Debit Card Fraud and Joe Public.

This is basically a rant about credit/debit card fraud. Anyone else in the "customer service" experience this? Im constantly reading about card fraud and indentity theft in the news, how it all costs like 3 billion pounds a year. Then I go to work and see why. People are stupid. No matter ...

This guy obviously hasn't taken a Quantum Physics lecture (infact this guy is obviously an idiot). It has been measured that particles have appeared from nothing, existed, and dissappeared again.

And he says something can't come from nothing.

Yeah, but my point is, i think it can be used as scientific evidence in court (at least in the UK) with the 5% uncertainty. Most people take a "match" in DNA profile to mean a 100% match.

And i'd like to point out I hate Statistics (as a maths subject).

Aren't DNA 'matches' within a 5% uncertainty? Im sure i heard during a lecture from a forensic scientist that this was the case for legal evidence, so it is wholey possible that two brothers could both match a DNA profile taken from a crime scene, very improbable though, even without having had tran...
