I was trying to argue for a backup hyper drive of some sort. Specifically here: ...does this not suggest that they have some method to choose which star ...

I've always liked the idea [taken from early penal colonies in Tasmania] of prisoners in solitary required to wear a sack on ones head with two eye holes and a rule of no talking to others when multiple prisoners are moved together... I think with a free hand in a prison: I'd remove all luxuries lik...

Considering how they treated Stofsk, are we really surprised by the incompetence? I don't think it's a good comparison... from what I've seen on these forum's about Stofsk case and the bare minimum I managed to find about it in the media here, Stofsk mostly got a 'bad hand dealt to him'... with Dr ...

Just a thought: where does the theory of the Stardestroyers jumping [from wherever the Falcon hooked on] to "near Bespin" come from?? As I understood it Han makes the quip that "Stardestroyers dump their garbage right before going to lightspeed, we'll just detach and float off [with t...

I think you'll find that you aren't the first person to 'invent' that. I don't agree with it though. A truly good politician must want the job enough to be committed to doing it well... Thinking on the concept of having multiple classes of troops... Maybe musket armed troops could fall somewhere between Hastati and archers and be mixed in with standard sword/javelin armed troops (if they still exist) for example: A cohort is made up of a 50% mix of Shield bearing, sword/javelin arm...

I know our police services have had their fair share of fuckups but I wonder what the ratio is of a) stupidity, b) overreaction and c) political fiddling. As mentioned it wouldn't be the first time someone within the Howard Government (if not Howard himself) has modified the facts to fit the story.....

Back to the OP... The greatest benefit of a Monarchy (in my mind at least, it is generally considered a good thing though) as opposed to say a republic (ala the USA) is in the split between the Head of the Government and the Head of State... As mentioned by others here, the Queen, as head of state, ...
