Re: Cooking and puttering about the finnish countryside
I was attempting my own wheel alignment, at least gonna give it a go before spending money. But it's not the alignment itself that's tricky... yet! It's 34 year old bolts that are rusted shut. This car despite being built in 1990 has design aspects going back to 60s cars, which I appreciate for the ...

Re: Cooking and puttering about the finnish countryside
Last night was may day which is a big celebration here, finally had some spring weather! On May Day all the yankee car owners get their cars out of winter storage and do a parade. Official count was over 500 old american cars in town last night. https://i.imgur.com/GkmZbbd.png Well not just american...

Re: Cooking and puttering about the finnish countryside
Been working my ass off this weekend with changing tires on two cars and dealing with the mazda rear brake calipers and replacing the disc. Everything stuck, so much fighting with bolts... hammers, levers and propane torch was required. Much less pleasant to work on than the much older Saab. I think...

Re: TIL: Today I Learned... (Join in!)
Swapped out studded winter tires to summer tires again. For the first time I used a torque wrench to pull them to spec (~105nm / 76ft-lbs) and holy crap that's nothing. I have tightened the bolts a lot harder by hand all the 24 years I've been driving.

Finally, many smaller parts are becoming a lesser amount of larger parts again. I went with silver and black since that's what was available. The brake shield is showing some wear but I think I'll get a couple more years out of it since it won't be seeing any salt anymore. https://i.imgur.com/VhIzpt...

I've been taking apart the front right drive joint / hub. I got a new ball joint to fit. I also got a new CV joint but that was me ordering based on the incorrect assumption that it was bad. I am undecided on replacing the CV joint or just leaving it for now, it will fail eventually, it's a wear par...

Re: Cooking and puttering about the finnish countryside
I removed the front bumper again and modified the fog light brackets. They had been bugging me for a while, too far apart compared to factory ones. So I decided to move them 5cm further in on each side. Looks better this way IMO. https://i.imgur.com/tuo5UZSh.jpeg https://i.imgur.com/6uZKqTwh.jpeg (r...

TIL that VMWare is price gouging it's customers, example an 8 mill contract is now a 100 mill contract. Thanks VMWare for showing the inherent risks of cloud computing. Possibly it's just that easy, but the lack of information and posting pictures that are later retracted for supposed manipulation makes for some real juicy gossip and conspiracy theorizing

After looking for half a year it suddenly happened. A set of -431 injectors out of a Saab 9000. E85 conversion is a go! I washed the Saab last night when we had above freezing temps because it had a lot of grinding dust on it from being in the shop. Labour gained 107 votes in Wellingborough and the Tories lost 24,869 compared to 2019. So it's not really people voting for Labour more than they did, just conservative vote collapse. I haven't seen how it went in Kingswood but not surprised if that too is more a result of cons not voting. However t...

Pie cuts are cool and easy to make with a bandsaw. But I don't have a bandsaw, just an angle grinder. So I have to do it the harder way. I made a 1:1 template in fusion 360, I needed to print this on two A4s , it's a 22.5 degree template. It's pretty cool, de https://i.imgur.com/BTcIQqj.png That fee...
