Re: What Instrument Do You Play?
I played the trumpet when I was younger, I’ve been working on it again slowly over the last couple of years.

Re: New Star Wars Films announced. Plus Ahsoka
I am wondering how much of "Heir to the Empire" they're going to use in Ahsoka. It does look like they're going to have the Sith (clone?). I am curious as well. The Thrawn trilogy was some of the best novels written and I’m excited to see how it works with the current universe. Cautiously...

Re: Is Star Wars Romanticism to Star Trek's Enlightenment?
I think medical cybernetics like Geordi’s glasses or Luke’s hand are a far different distinction than the nearly full take over by technology seen in the Borg or Vader. One is minor to aid a disability or injury while the later is enhancing and becoming dependent on the technology to continue living.

Re: Star Trek Discovery Season 4 (Spoilers)
Two things stood out to me from the first episode: The first is that Michael did almost everything wrong with making contact with that species at the start. The worst being her decision to go down to the planet, instead of opening dialog over radio/subspace first. The second is the reopening of Sta...

Re: Star Trek Lower Decks Thread
I’m definitely looking forward to season 2. I was pleasantly surprised how they slipped so many references to the past shows into this one and view it as a funny comedy.

Re: Star Trek: Prodigy (New Series)
Why's she wearing an old-style uniform though? By the time VOY made it back to the AQ Starfleet had changed to the 'purple shoulders for everyone' look. Or did they change back to the colour coded ones later? Haven't played STO in eons and never got into Picard so I'm not sure what Starfleet's 'cur...

Re: Star Trek: Prodigy (New Series)
EDIT:I wonder if Janeway will be the actual person or a holographic/synth recreation. I'm guessing hologram, or something else that's tied to the ship. Something that gives a good answer as to why she is sending these children on away missions while not going herself. I don’t know why but when I re...

Re: Star Trek Lower Decks Thread
My favorite aspect of the show was how they never took themselves too seriously all the time. It was more of a light-hearted view of Trek that we don't see all that often. I mean there's a reason why the #1 favorite TOS episode of all time is Trouble with Tribbles. I agree. It’s light and fun and h...

Re: Star Trek: Discovery, Season 3 (Spoilers)
Killing Osyrra is all it took to destroy the Emerald Chain. Really ? The writers seem to really hate the idea of having a plot that continues from one season to the next. On the other hand, they established pretty firmly that the chain is on the edge of collapse due to a dilithium shortage. And tha...

Re: The Mandalorian Discussion Thread (spoilers and such)
Were the dewbacks in that scene in the original cut, or added in the Special Edition? (in case anyone is having trouble recalling, this is the 'look sir, droids' scene where the stormtroopers are investigating the escape pod, and I guess R2 or 3PO lost a component in the crash and it's never brough...

Re: The Mandalorian Discussion Thread (spoilers and such)
Just because the 'beasts' were local doesn't mean the 'Imperials' were. They could've just availed themselves to local transportation, which in this case meant riding animals. Back in Imperial India there were Englishmen riding elephants. Doesn't mean they brought'em with them. Arabia and camels. J...

Re: Star Trek: Discovery, Season 3 (Spoilers)
I usually enjoy Mirror universe adventures, but I felt back in season 1 that Lorca should have stayed on and the Empress should have died. The plotline we're seeing with her now is what Lorca should have had in season 1, but they instead decided to rescue the cannibal, and just kept her here for tw...

I liked the idea of having a Terran with them as a regular character. I used to love the mirror universe episodes. Feels to me they closed the door on that kind of fast.

It definitely has. I can only imagine what they’ll be capable of in the next 10 years or so. I really love the possibilities this could entail. Today’s episode was an amazing surprise.

Re: Favorite B5 season
Season 4 was by far my favorite as you really saw the Shadow War get kicked into high gear followed by the civil war with Earth. On another note, the last episodes of season 5 (the final episodes of the series)were originally made for season 4, but when they found out they could have a season 5 he h...

Re: Our Ability to Use the Force Has Diminished: what does i
If my understanding is correct, the Jedi pre TPM were pretty much unchallenged from the Dark side for a thousand years. Could this line "ability to use the force has diminshed" be more in regards to the confusion that the relatively sudden reintroduction of the Dark Side causes? Along with...

Re: Ancient streambed located...on FUCKING MARS
Yeah - truthfully, I think it's very, very likely that microbial extraterrestrial life will be discovered within our lifetime, probably on Mars. The conditions on Earth and Mars are similar enough that water existed on both planets, and bacteria has existed on Earth since the Archaen eon (~3 billio...
