Re: SUPERTHREAD: 2020 United States Elections

Really, the only thing I want in a VP right now is someone who knows how to run a country in a competent way. You SAY that, and yet your ENTIRE post (and the post before) is talking ONLY about the gender and race of the prospective candidates, NOT about what their respective records have to say abo...

Re: SUPERTHREAD: 2020 United States Elections

Are progressives really going to be happy with Bass? Pretty sure they're not going to be with Harris. Warren? Sure, unless they're hardcore Bernie fans. But that's the point, Biden painted himself into a corner with the whole "I'll pick a women, maybe black" paraphrasing bit. If the modera...

Re: SUPERTHREAD: 2020 United States Elections

I get that the old, black, female voters are the 'base' of the Democratic party. But the dems better be careful. Biden is the black female choice, his sweep of the black vote in the southern states in the primary is why he is the candidate. Pushing to get the VP as their choice as well will alienate...

Re: Translating Non-standard modern ships to Sci Fi.

Honestly, LHS, LST's, and other brown navy ships are more like what you'd see. Granted, I'd see more a submarine as an equivalent, but brown water navy ships like Marine landers or mini carriers close to actual models of space ships. You've have, at the very least, a combination of ship born navy an...

How much did it cost for Mars? How much for the Ganymend station? Their fleet was old, but how much for the big cruiser.

Earth had the means for a generation ships as soon as it had an Epstien drive.

To little, to late. He had his chance to speak up. He's an institutionalist who didn't realize his institution was corrupted. He had his chance to buck the system and failed.

All of this is irrelevant. A new administration can go after him on new charges. If he flee's, he looks over his shoulder the rest of his life.

I'm of the view that idiotproofing the visuals for the kids aged 3-10 is important, but that's just me. I did find at least one confused redditor, link to the relevant thread in the post before yours. The comments on that thread echo a little what I've been saying. Is this show oriented to that dem...

Yeah, not to pile on, but you can be a bad husband and/or shitty person and cheat on your spouse, and still be a Feminist and/or supporter of equal rights. Not saying it makes him a great man, kind of makes him a little sleazy, but the two are not mutually exclusive.

It's an attention whore move. I'm not even close to worried about it. At the very least, a majority of American's are tired of having the country run by people who have no idea how to, or lack the want to do so.

I honestly don't know what you guys are talking about? Is it the camera angle in the ship-porn shots? I feel like they went through great pains to show the audience the direction of artificial gravity and internal layout configuration. Anymore would be just tech wank in the show. When underway, they...

Andrew Johnson would be like Biden picking Paul Ryan. Johnson was an appeasement pick. He also got impeached.

I hope Biden can do better than that.

Who every it is, must be competent to take over the government when he steps down in two years or so related to dementia or some other health issue. This is a huge VP pick, not for the actual election, but they will probably have to take over the government, let alone be set up as incumbent for 2024.

And I'll also point out that these gains were made through the Democratic Party, not third party runs. I guess you can say that, but also note that AOC has her own PAC's and money raising system because both she won't let moderate Dems in on her goods and the DNC won't let her get money without her...

Biden straight up can't run in 2024 if he wins 2020. The man is a shadow of himself now, just physically let alone politically. That is why the VP is the important choice here.

Democrats are a large range, then there are Lefties and Liberals and others who aren't even Democrats. When you say "Democrats are actively hostile to ..." XYZ, what you're saying is that the established system of how money and power are exchanged in America won't like those ideas.

The clones served multiple purposes. Yes, they were a Jedi trap. But in multiple ways, just like the actual war. The Clone Army was disposable. No families, loved ones, kids back on Coruscant. No powerful Senators in their families. If thousands got wiped out, more were made. No emotional connectio...
