Re: Space Battleship Yamato 2199
It's Yamato because it's Yamato. It's the series' namesake, they're just reworking it to be more relevant. The battle at Pluto was with Earth's barely functioning ragged fleet. It was the leftovers of their battle at Mars, where basically all but Japan's contribution gets annihilated. Dessler's pret...

And it wasn't that he was okay again, he was just pointed to the road to his recovery. Thus the ending sequence where he finally trusts someone enough to remove the shrapnel in his heart.

Re: Iron Man 3 *SPOILERS*
It happens on screen, immediately following a panic attack, with the kid reminding him of his greatness. It's even followed up by a "I'm going to turn household items into KILLING MACHINES, imsogreat" shopping spree. I mean, yeah, you could argue it happens too quickly, except that's the e...

Re: Movies that are much better than their reputation
Yeah, it was a surprisingly good movie. I bought it cheap and expected something not very good, but the characters worked well and the aliens were interestingly vulnerable.

Re: That Fucking Guy
Doing damage was never a problem for fighters in D&D, and quite frankly is still a terrible option when facing off against a great many threats. Making CMB/CMD apply to everything made it easier to keep track of one number (not that the maneuvers were ever difficult to track) but it also screwed...

Oh, everyone hates Streetfighter and Mortal Kombat, but what better way to portray goofy fighters than to make goofy action comedies?

Re: Recommend new t.v. shows
You know, it's weird with Breaking Bad, but I like it almost in spite of Walt. His character getting reset somewhat regularly forcing him to keep going down the tried and true path of "this time I mean it!" criminal lord is almost boring. Jessie, though, with his confused and craptastic li...

Re: Movies that are much better than their reputation
The Faculty got 53%, but it was a pretty funny movie. Chock full of random recognizable celebrities and taking a pretty awesome joking stab at alien invasion horror movies. Southland Tales is pretty hated, but I found it hilarious. The gigantic ensemble cast and everyone diving head first into insan...

Re: "Oblivion:" A very SPOILERIFIC review
It's pretty obvious they do suspect it. Victoria was pretty plainly trying to deny that things were wrong, choosing instead the ignorant but, from her perspective, happy life she had. Jack suspected everything and was constantly questioning just what was going on. That's supposed to be their dynamic...

Re: Bringing back the Wooly Mammoth
The only problem reviving species is that you'll likely never have them with the same behaviors. Any learned mechanisms are completely lost, and if those involve mating rituals then they're long term survival could be really suspect.

It's really unimpressive. It's fairly average burger joint food, only all of the ingredients are hideous.
The fries were decent, but god damn was the burger plain.
also they only had coke in bottles those communists

What about the part where, even if you voted for a third party, whomever it was, that their ability to do anything as president will be marginalized to insignificance through both parties not wanting to lose their political power? If you haven't already made motion to switch the political nature of ...

Re: J. K. Rowling may write a Doctor Who story.
Hey, why not? It's not like the series can get much worse. oh wait But, yeah, it'll be good to bring in more writers, if only to make the series more episodic and less grandstanding and over blown. And these new TWEESTS to the stories might be an overall improvement. Fresh ideas and perspectives and...

Proposition 34 could end death penalty

It's the Oatmeal. That's they're thing. Poor comedic timing.
Actually, I like them occasionally, but this particular comic is pretty terrible. Especially since they seem to like doing this kind of joke. A lot.

They said what type of prisoners they were, "organized crime", i.e., mafia, gangsters, the men that the Joker brought under his umbrella. These are life long criminals that get no parole. That doesn't mean they never get out, it just means they do all their time. That isn't honestly all t...

Re: The Dark Knight Rises (Spoilers)
That's irrelevant. The Act was oppressive and that was the point. So, no, there were no missed opportunities. And do you want to know why they picked up the gun? Because they were oppressed. It failed because we were never shown what kind of prisoners they were, just prisoners. That they all joined...

Re: The Dark Knight Rises (Spoilers)
The Dent Act does not give parole to any prisoner. This is the oppression bane was talking about outside of Blackgate. Some who may have been rehabilitated have no way of getting out. Ah, right. But considering they all picked up a gun and started with the killing and looting I gotta wonder just ho...

It's not like the Dent Act is even really expanded upon. It could be anything.
I just wish the revelation of Harvey Dent went somewhere other than letting Blake guilt-trip Gordon for a scene.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises (Spoilers)
Yeah, except we never see anyone but the prisoners joining Bane and they have freaking Scarecrow overseeing the kangaroo courts. They botched the whole thing pretty badly in my opinion. The best you see are some rich people being pulled out of apartment buildings and then a bunch of people living in...
