Re: NBA Playoffs 2010
Ray Allen went 0 for 13 after sinking 8 three pointers on Sunday. Quite possibly the greatest turn from "can't miss" to "miss everything" in Finals history. Also, if that didn't seal it for the Lakers, Derek Fisher's 11 points in the 4th quarter certainly did. Especially that las...

Re: NBA Playoffs 2010
The Celtics got outmuscled and outhustled on both ends of the court tonight. Artest and Gasol did a great job on defense, putting pressure on Pierce and KG, making them virtual non-factors for three-quarters of the game. On top of that, Gasol was absolutely solid in the paint, while Artest made some...

Re: NBA Playoffs 2010
Ron Artest almost single-handedly BLEW the game and single-handedly WON the game. He should never have had make that terrible brick of a three with a minute left. The look that Phil Jackson gave him during the timeout could have melted buildings. With that said, there were some other big Laker mista...

Re: How did you become what you are today?
This thread I like. It seems I enter into some variation of this conversation with many people I meet in real life. I was born and raised as a Jehovah's Witness. Those JWs that knock on your door on Saturday morning? I used to do that, starting when I was 7 or 8. Every week without fail. With my lit...

Re: Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen (Spoiler ahoy!)
I've been tempted to get the "Leader" class Megatron and Optimus Prime because they look awesome, but it's just so pricey. Hey Vymp, I can personally attest to the awesomeness that is Leader OP. He's currently sitting on my desk, looking all sorts of badass. Admittedly, I live in the Stat...

Re: Star Trek 09 review thread
The new Star Trek should've used the red uniforms from ST2-ST6 series as a base rather than redoing those from the 60s. The better uniforms in that movie were the ones worn by the Kelvin crew —sharper cut, a nice blend of styles from all three eras, and somewhat harkened back to the simpler schemes...

Re: Star Trek 09 review thread
A possible explanation as to why the Narada was able to so quickly demolish the Federation armada at Vulcan: The ships warped planet-side in a tight formation, probably with their shields down. But even if they were up, we all saw that the Enterprise (which had its shields up later) still incurred d...

Re: Southern California Trek XI meet
Sorry fellas, but I got to take a rain check.
I gave in and I've already watched the movie twice (7:45 pm on Thursday night and again last night). I think I'm all petered out.
But trust me, you'll have a great time. It's a fun fun movie.

Re: Star Trek 09 review thread
Wil Wheaton just saw an advance screening tonight.
For what it's worth, he just tweeted: "Star Trek is reborn and it is SPECTACULAR."
Things are looking up for this movie.

Re: Southern California Trek XI meet
So what's the consensus? The 9th then? An early matinee? Early evening?
As for theaters...there's a bunch in North Orange County (Huntington Beach or the Block in Anaheim) that could be a good compromise in terms of distance.

Re: nBSG Episode 4.13 “The Oath” (SPOILERS)
Lee is the conscience of the Fleet and his views on the mutiny match my own. But one cannot dispute the fact that Adama and Roslin have done shit to alleviate the problem. If anything, they made it worse by stonewalling and ruling by virtual fiat. As I've said before, I don't condone the rebel acti...

Re: nBSG Episode 4.13 “The Oath” (SPOILERS)
"Principled rebels vs. a cult of personality around a military leader" You know, just reading that would make you think the rebels are the good guys -- Except they led by a murdering terrorist cocksucker, who's merry minions include rapists, murderers, and general fuck-ups, the dregs of w...

Re: nBSG Episode 4.13 “The Oath” (SPOILERS)
I actually liked how Lee went off on Tigh. He's merely venting what everyone else is feeling. The Cylons did after all wipe out virtually all of humanity . People don't just forget that sort of thing, no matter how rational it is to accept Cylon FTLs. Except, as I said, Tigh and the other 5 had no ...

Re: What do You Eat for Breakfast?
The reason I like breakfast is because its a rare treat for me. Usually, its a choice between breakfast and an extra half-hour of sleep. The half-hour wins every time.
Also, who else likes to dip their bacon / sausage / toast in their egg yolk?

There was a silent clock, but I also heard breathing.
Also, why the fuck are there no gas masks in the panic room?

One thing I liked about TFF
The field uniforms. I always thought they were smart and sensible and vaguely reminiscent of the British Desert Rats. http://images4.wikia.nocookie.net/memoryalpha/en/images/d/d2/Galileo_raid_crew.jpg I swear, TOS-era Starfleet just looked and acted tougher than the TNG pajama brigade. And that goes...
