Re: Conflict erupts at Minneapolis, L.A. protests over George Floyd death

But if you believe that "The Democrats are the problem", and not the guy who's now literally gassing minorities in camps I'm not dealing with this shit. DR5. Quote the sentence where I said anything exculpatory about Trump. , then tell me: what is your alternative? Give me another option....

Re: Conflict erupts at Minneapolis, L.A. protests over George Floyd death

You know, when the Democrats are at least trying to do something in response that isn't an authoritarian crackdown, and some local governments have in fact taken some steps toward structural reform, and poll numbers indicate that the Democrats are benefiting as a result, it seems pretty disingenuou...

Re: Conflict erupts at Minneapolis, L.A. protests over George Floyd death

Christ almighty, kente cloth and kneeling? Are the democrats trying to look like they're pandering? Have you met the chairman of the house police brutality committee? https://pbs.twimg.com/media/EOr3xzWUUAAaURt.jpg In seriousness, the democratic ineptitude on this is a fucking travesty. I'd try to ...

Re: Conflict erupts at Minneapolis, L.A. protests over George Floyd death

"The Trump Regime Is Beginning to Topple" If I had a nickel... This also has nothing to do with Trump. The names of victims of police violence go back through the ages of the United States. In living memory Rodney King, Amadiou Diallou, Trayvon Martin, and Michael Brown all come to mind. ...

A pretty good video about what's going on in the US and the rhetoric we use around the cops and protests:

A friend of mine who does serious organizing and advocacy work in Baltimore has been sharing this chart explaining the difference between surface level reforms of the police and methods to abolish their power and rein them in. I highly recommend it.

Re: Conflict erupts at Minneapolis, L.A. protests over George Floyd death

At first I couldn't tell why the guy went up to the police, I see now he had a helmet in his hand. Guy thought he was doing a good thing. "Their actual argument is that they were just following orders." Ahh, the Nuremberg defense. I didn't see this stated in the article. Maybe I am blind ...

Oregon Police conspired with the Proud Boys to let them avoid curfew and so they didn't need to answer the tough question of "Why arrest black people but not white people?"

Re: Conflict erupts at Minneapolis, L.A. protests over George Floyd death

In Buffalo a 75 Year Old Peace Activist tried to return a lost SWAT Helmet to the police. The police flipped him on his back, smashing his head into the concrete, and walked around him while he bled out on the sidewalk. The police claimed he tripped. Video was posted that showed that was, absolutely...

Re: Conflict erupts at Minneapolis, L.A. protests over George Floyd death

I was under the false impression that De Blasio was also obscenely wealthy. I stand corrected. De Blasio has been a career elected official after doing campaign management stuff early on (he worked for Charlie Rangel and Hillary Clinton when she ran for the Senate). He actually spent some time in N...

De Blasio isn't a billionaire. A tremendous disappointment right now? Absolutely. But not a billionaire. You're thinking of Bloomberg.

Re: RLM/Plinkett Review of Star Trek: Picard

So, straight up, you just haven't watched any of their criticism post the sequels, have you? So, everytime you try to attack what they're saying you're either speaking from straight up ignorance and/or lying about even claiming to know what they're talking about? Yiiiikes. Re: RLM/Plinkett Review of Star Trek: Picard

Okay, and how does that invalidate the critiques they made of both the prequels and sequels? Their fundamental critique is based on how much of a departure the prequels were to the OT, and it essentially becomes nothing more than fanboy gate-keeping rather than to recognise the fact that the preque...

Re: SUPERTHREAD: 2020 United States Elections

Except Trump really isn't a dramatic escalation of those tendencies, but rather, the result of a prior escalation - one that rapidly unfolded during the Bush and Obama years. That's what you don't seem to grasp: Trump didn't just 'happen' by surprise (even though yes, it blindsided even most of us ...

That their criticism is rooted in the same fanboyism that led to the sequel trilogy, mostly notably ROS's flaws. Okay, and how does that invalidate the critiques they made of both the prequels and sequels? So, to be clear, you're painting a direct line of responsibility from RLM and Mike Stoklasa t...

Simple but effective set-up. On the other hand, the set up for the sequels is convoluted without giving any useful context. What, exactly, is your argument? Because as far as I can tell it's "The sequels sure did suck!" which... sure? But that's not a response to anyone but Ralin. No. Wha...

Re: RLM/Plinkett Review of Star Trek: Picard

Here's what we can gather about the political situation using just dialog and visual cues from the original Star Wars. 1. There's an Empire and a Rebellion. The Empire is a galaxy-spanning totalitarian regime. This is all spelled out in the opening crawl, and deliberately reinforced by having Imper...

Then, bluntly, I think you didn't comprehend what was said. At no point did they 'keep pushing' for JJ Abrams as the saviour of Star Wars. Re: RLM/Plinkett Review of Star Trek: Picard
