Re: Kid playing Airsoft in own yard facing school expulsion
What I've been noticing more and more of lately is a decreased clarity in what, specifically, is the role of the school and parent in a child's upbringing and discipline. So then this happens. School districts have been asked to take an increasing level of responsibility and oversight in their child...

Re: Girl, 13, and her boyfriend, 12, both labelled sex offen
I just don't see what good this does now... This isn't a case of someone harming another person and needing to make it right. Honestly, getting pregnant at thirteen is traumatizing and awful is so many ways, I have a very time getting behind the idea of ruining the rest of her life over it. How abou...

Has he tried those Breathe Right strips? They're almost like a bandaid worn on the nose at night, supposedly it works by opening the airways a little bit more. We gave them to the patients at the detox I worked at all the time.

Re: Pepper spray: Now to beat the lines for sales.
I saw this earlier too, it's fucking ridiculous. No thing you're going to buy is so important that it warrants physical assault like that. On the other hand, the precedent was set less than a month ago that pepper spray is appropriate for use at a peaceful protest by police. I'm not saying that it m...

More likely than the stoke turning him gay:
The stroke making him realize how short life is and how important it is to live the life you want. Blaming the stoke seems to me to be a convenient way to "soften the blow" with his SO and any family he thought might not be supportive.

Oh my god, this is horrible. I've been there, and it's such a dark dark place. The only thing that had prevented me at the time was that I knew my family and friends would be devastated (even if I had no idea why they would be) and I thought it would be selfish of me to go through with it. That got ...

What's up everybody? For those of you who have been on the board long enough (assuming all memories remain intact), this is your friendly neighborhood Tinkerbell back in action. Re: Child Slavery Comes to the US
You can apply any label you like, put it in whatever circumstances or context makes you feel better, but at the end of the day, there is no way to make this an acceptable means of doing things. Would they have ever treated their own children like that? No, of course not. I have a huge issue with any...

Re: SDN Weight Watchers, Thread the Second
So 4 visits to the optometrist, a retina specialist, and an MRI later, I have something called idiopathic intracranial hypertension. Essentially my brain thinks it has a tumor when it doesn't, and builds up pressure to combat something that isn't there. Treatment involves a medication and a possible...

Re: The importance of a degree
I think in part, a degree shows not only verification of a specific skill set, but that you were willing to work through it for however many years. You attended class, did the assignments, absorbed the material, etc. It shows a willingness to work hard and do what you have to do that is equally impo...

I agree that this story is pretty funny, but I get why he was arrested. If someone stole your car, but brought it back at the end of the day and filled your gas tank, you would still be upset that someone stole it. It's the same concept. Stealing is stealing, even if you don't cause any harm by doin...
