Re: Something big
That's...a very good point. The Empire being the Empire, I expect it is probably organised and written down in some extremely detailed fashion, that the pilots and officers will ignore in urgent situations. Actually it's in urgent situations when training kicks in. It's why it's training and why it...

Speaking of which, someone asked you this question, so I'll ask it as well. Is the Dart-class basically a completed version of this image?fractalsponge1 wrote: ↑2019-08-20 10:17pm Basically a fast escort/patrol type ship. More IPV than line warship.

Yeah, can you clarify? I don't see WIP #3 on Fractalsponge's site. WIP #2, yes, but not WIP #3.

Re: Something big
Say, Fractal, I saw your blog post, and definitely a darn shame that the guy who wrote the book plagiarized your artwork of the Star Destroyer, Lambda shuttle, and the Assertor (and with the latter erroneously referred to it as the Executor, meaning they didn't even bother to get the Executor right...

Re: Something big
I screwed up the designation. I thought it was ex, which made sense, but instead, as Phoenix King pointed out, it was ep, standing for Experimental Prototype(I guess). So, any confusion was my own damn fault, Apologies. I haven't seen Solo yet. I'm only up to R1 and TLJ, due to...RL concerns. But t...

Re: Something big
Imagine two TIE balls sharing a single solar panel wing, with one of the balls holding a turbolaser as the craft's sole armament. That's a TIE Experimental or TIE/ex. Then, there's the infamous TIE Wing or Y-TIE.., Oh, right. The TIE Experimental I definitely know about, though Wookieepedia didn't ...

Re: Something big
Well, like I said, it's a pretty interesting concept that he's got going there. And as others pointed out, this isn't the first time Fractalsponge has put in side hangar bays instead of at the bottom. As for the TIE balls...let's not discuss the century tank or the TIE/ex, shall we? 😂 Okay, I know w...

Re: Something big
Jesus wtf happened here. Have some heavy frigate WIPs and get back to ship discussions: http://fractalsponge.net/?p=3651 Yeah, sorry about that. Initially people digressed to the Mon Cal designs and whether or not it was good that they were originally shipliners, then things cascaded when I pointed...

Re: Something big
I don't know about them having the best gear, to be honest. Most of their equipment was actually aging, and even the most recent weapons they had were implied to be inferior to a certain degree to the Imperial weaponry. Supposed to, yes. In actual practice we never see the Empire display a tech adv...

Re: Something big
Eh, I don't know... them being starliners converted into warships DOES fit in with the Rebels being guerrillas, which is what Lucas had in mind when he wrote them (as he based them on the Vietcong, and the Empire on America). Thematically sure, but in actual construction the Rebels and Empire do no...

Re: Something big
The Malevolence and the Invisible Hand were both built by the Quarren. Well, okay, I'll give you the Invisible Hand, since that was in Episode III (though I'm not sure it was ever stated in any pre-The Clone Wars materials that Dac or the Quarren were responsible for the design), but I'm pretty sur...

Re: Something big
I mean the available information is "they converted their liners into warships". Literally. No if, no buts, no rumours or fake outs. That's canonically (as far as the old canon is concerned) what they did and they don't care if you think it makes engineering sense or not. Still, it's tech...

Re: Something big
I've just never bought into the MC series being 'luxury liners' or converted buildings or whatever. I think a better explanation is that the Mon cal ship yards built hundreds if not thousands of luxury liners and just happened to covertly built a small percentage of warships for a home defense flee...

Re: Something big
I've never been involved in SW other than for a book. But, I can tell you about the process a bit: Supremacy was CGI - and a lot of detail was ripped off of the R1 ISD model to fill it out. To my knowledge there is no set model for this. The R1 hero ISD model was CGI. I'm not too sure about the res...

Re: Something big
AFAIK, apart from the Warfare of Star Wars book or whatever it was called that he did a few pictures for, Fractal hasn't been involved with Star Wars on an official level and I don't think that's changed. Sorry for asking, it's just that I really have no idea about whether they used pure CGI or the...

Re: Something big
Pretty good Rogue One Star Destroyer, fractal. Definitely worthy of an ILM ship. Speaking of ILM ships, though, a bit off topic, but I really need to know this: Was the Supremacy entirely computer-generated, or did they have an ILM set model for it akin to the Executor? Might as well ask the same fo...

Re: Something big
Just so everyone's aware, fractalsponge1 is working on a new ship (not a Imperial ship, just a new ship). According to him, it's "A commission piece with the concept that it’s a transport that can sort of double as an East Indiaman type armed ship."

If you're referring to the RPG book Command and Control, that's ambiguously Canon, ambiguously Legends.Rhadamantus wrote: ↑2018-01-13 11:06pm The Assertor is apparently canon now, from an RPG that was semi-recently released. They also managed to butcher the numbers, giving it 120 fighters.

Re: Something big
Han tends to be sure his plans will work, that's pretty much a defining trait of his. As for Holdo following his example, well no shit, she'd just seen/been shown it could be done . Maybe so, but even ROTJ showed he had his limits (like I said, when it took too long for the Executor to respond to t...
