Re: Report board software problems here

Hello, everyone. I apologize for being remiss in maintenance duties. I updated the board software to version 3.2.2. Please let me know if there are continuing problems, as I am hoping any problems that had been cropping up were due to the software being out of date.

Re: SOFTWARE UPDATE

Hey guys, I think I know how to fix the small issues with the new "classic" BlackSoul theme, but I'm hitting the road Saturday morning for a week-and-a-half long trip, so I won't be able to tinker with it more until I get back. Hopefully, the board is in a state where it is fairly usable a...

Re: Report board software problems here

I honestly have no idea why that might be happening. Unfortunately, since I upgraded both the server OS and the BBS software, it's possible that the culprit could be either.

Where exactly is that icon? I'm not sure if I know which icon you're referring to.

Re: SOFTWARE UPDATE

In Millennium Falcon, the userbox text for "Posts:", "Joined:", etc are small black print on dark grey. Not the most readable combination. Bold text might help, if changing the color isn't an option. Also, the small "top" arrow icons in the userboxes and several of the...

Re: SOFTWARE UPDATE

I see you've redecorated. I don't like it. [/Two, Eleven, etc.] More seriously, on the advanced search screen some of the text for options has such low contrast with the default background I can barely read it unless I start splashing highlighting around. I'll probably get used to the new look, jus...

Re: SOFTWARE UPDATE

Apparently, an updated version of subsilver exists which is compatible with phpBB 3.1.x. I didn't realize this before, because it doesn't come bundled in the default installation package.

Re: SOFTWARE UPDATE

For anyone who's curious, I made zero changes to the template files. Both BlackSoul-SDN and MillenniumFalcon-SDN are based on prosilver, with the only changes being modifications to colours.css and imageset.css (and the only change to imageset.css was switching the logo from the phpbb logo to the st...

I can work with "Quick Reply." The changed configuration is... disorienting (as noted, having the usernames and avatars on the right is a bit eyewatering for some reason). I grew accustomed to the old look and never had a problem with it, but presumably the new look is better for someone ...

SOFTWARE UPDATE

Hello, everyone. I just did a major software update. The server software has been updated to the latest version, and the phpBB board software has also been updated to the latest version. There may be some teething issues, as is common with such major software changes. Areas to look for: E-mail not b...

As one of the old guard, I can only say that Martin will be terribly missed by all. He and I shared a certain intensity and bluntness, and I always viewed him as a kindred spirit. I was so happy for both of you when you got married, and I still have trouble believing that he's really gone. My heart ...

On a sad occasion like this, there is little that one can say. We will all miss our Yosemite Bear.

PS. Ali-Sama contacted me on Facebook and asked that I relay the message that he sends his sincerest condolences.

I still cannot believe that the same people who spent the last decade making excuses for Bush's errors in judgement and lapses of attention are trying to make the deaths of four Americans in Libya into a huge scandal. It's simply incredible. For Republicans to stand up and point fingers at Obama say...

Re: The Aliens from Battleship

As I said, the biggest problem I had was with the really terrible quality of their weapons. They used unguided dumb-fire missiles, for fuck's sake! Are you referring to the aliens, or to the USN and JMSDF? In the latter's case, the missiles' guidance radar was unoperable, due to interference from t...

And it wasn't the kind of movie to go on and show the fleet achieving sod all by pounding the shield with missiles once the fact that no they can't get in was established using the flattened jet. Narrative focus and all that. Indeed. I had always assumed they tried firing some missiles at it off-sc...

The closest thing to a German-style union is a professional association here, such as the PEO (Professional Engineers of Ontario) or the AMA (American Medical Association). In these cases, people have to pay professional dues to be registered, and you need to be a registered engineer or doctor to p...

Re: The Aliens from Battleship

I saw this film a few months back, and a few things occured to me. Of course, it's hardly the most well-developed plot, or the best executed film (despite some rather pretty explosions), so some of the glaring plot holes are not surprising, but a few things about the aliens really irked me. 1. They...

We do need to look at this honestly, however: unions primarily benefit low-skill workers, not high-skill workers. Primarily an important word here, however. Since unions also benefit high-skill workers and without a union, even a high skill worker might suddenly find himself in a very surprising an...

To back up Formless, Lord of the Abyss said, Christians are if anything more likely than Muslims, since it's the Christians who collectively have a desire for the end of the world and have been pushing for just that for a long time. I understand that Lord of the Abyss did not MEAN to imply anything...
