Re: Alligator Takes 2-Year Old near Disney World
Get fucking used to the idea that words and phrases (such as "run something to the ground") have established meanings, and that if you use them outside of the direct context of their established meanings, it is your responsibility and obligation to provide the necessary clarity for your ar...

Re: Alligator Takes 2-Year Old near Disney World
As for what I think they should have done it's simple. What was needed here is a simple decorative fence and signs every 100m or so saying "Dangerous animal will eat you." And if that runs the company into the ground by destroying the attractiveness of their resort than that's fine by me....

Re: [football] Euro championship 2016 thread
So, Germany beat Slovakia like a drum and sailed on to a 3-0 victory, while Belgium stomped an anemic Hungary flat with a 4-0 win.

Re: Alligator Takes 2-Year Old near Disney World
Given that alligators are part of the natural wildlife of the state and Disney has policies in place for removing them, I do not think they were negligent. Thing is, a no swimming sign is or should generally be taken as "Get the fuck out of the water already!" because you have to take into...

Indeed
Now, the only question is, would a third shot of Grand Marnier Red Label to celebrate the occasion be overdoing things a bit?
Ah, fuck it. Since I only have to show up at work at noon, it's not!

Right now, Russia is well in its way to being eliminated, being down 2 goals against Wales after the first half of the final game of the preliminary round. Excellent!

Of course conservatives threw shitfit over this. They would throw a shitfit over Obama saying rape is a bad thing, simply because it was Obama who said it.

Just as a note, keep the Bernie vs Hillary conversation either civil, or keep it right out of this thread. I've had complaints, and if I need to come in here with the Moderator Machete to chop out parts of this thread into a separate one because of it, I will not be amused. I just don't have the tim...

Yeah, it was so very close. Damn. I had wished for Australia to win. Ukraine's song was beautiful in its way, but it did nothing for me.
Also liked the entries from France and Spain (hadn't heard any of the automatic entries before last night).

Re: EUROVISION!
Well, what a clusterfuck. Taken together with Tuesday's semifinal, that is. On Tuesday, they had nothing but forgettable crap. Tonight they had all the good songs on, meaning again several entries that should have been in the finals were left out. I liked the Slovenia, Norway and Ireland entries of ...

Re: EUROVISION!
And oh yeah, Hungary was good. I liked their entry. Will be interesting to see how Thursday's semifinal will be. Last year it was ridiculous how bad the difference was quality-wise between the two. In 2015 they packed all the good ones into the first semifinal and almost everything in the second was...

Re: EUROVISION!
Cyprus legitimately confused me; they looked like rockers ... but sounded a bit too poppy, no? Anyway, good for them for making it in, and Hungary (because I have them in the office pool to win, w00t)! Disliked Austria's, not bad in itself, but somehow it just rubbed me the wrong way. Because she s...

Måns Zelmerlöw: "At last we can say: WELCOME EUROPE!" *cue Final Countdown by Europe* That was a fucking hilarious start to the evening. And yes, there were some countries whose performances rated at best a    Greece among them, but if the short sample about Sweden's p...

Get rid of Java and Silverlight, use an adblocker like uBlockOrigin and use an actual antivirus software. IF you absolutely must use something that you are not willing to pay anything for, Avast is the best of a bad lot. Note that I am NOT recommending it. It's crap, but it's a lot less crap then th...

Re: Please suggest to me a good free antivirus program
The big reason to get something with a better engine is that they do not rely only on definitions based identification. I have no idea of how other programs do it, but F-Secure has a seven layer protection that has the obvious definitions based identification and in addition to that various other ch...

Re: Please suggest to me a good free antivirus program
Avast is practically the last fucking free antivirus software I would ever recommend anyone, right behind Avira and AVG. They're all shit. Avast gets fairly good protective ratings in different comparisons, but there are several serious downsides: Data harvesting (if you're not paying for a service ...

Re: SCOTUS unanimously rejects challenge to "One Person, One Vote"
Besides, the biggest problems with the US election systems are elsewhere. As in, everywhere else except how district size is determined. The voter registration system is fucked up The district boundary determination system is fucked up (gerrymandering) The voting procedures setup is fucked up state ...

Obvious April Fool article when you consider all the different quotations. Even if some of the things would be said in private, they would never be repeated to a reporter in the manner portrayed in the article.

Re: Erdogan demands censorship in foreign media
Yeah, Putin did nothing against the even more vicious video they did about him awhile back. (Putin Kampfschlumpf). That's because reacting to something like that sends a signal of weakness and insecurity and amplifies the effects of the piece in question, whereas acknowledging it was done, going &q...
