Re: Can we blame Ando for Far Cry 3
Definitely suffers from the boring end-game syndrome, because it doesn't add any new tricks (apart from the wingsuit which is pretty much useless) and the old ones... well, just get boring. Yes, you can clear the entire map and prevent anything hostile from spawning in sandbox. But quite frankly, I ...

Re: Nvidia driver makes a black screen
Whilst in the black screen, try hitting winkey+p. It brings up the multi monitor setup and allows you to switch back to the primary display as the main pc screen. Had something similar happen when I was disconnecting a laptop from a TV screen.

Re: Upgrade advice
I'm having trouble imagining a scenario where you can't max out the graphics at >60 fps with your current setup. Are you running an Eyefinity monitor setup or something? Right now, I'm all into TERA Online and I'm lucky to get beyond 20-25 fps at any time where in WoW I regularly get 40+ fps. And I...

Re: Upgrade advice
Kneecap, quite seriously, stick with what you got until it dies. In terms of GPU, you could do what Starglider said (makes sense). You could also get something like Radeon 7870 which is a very decent card in terms of performance/price. However, should you decide on CPU upgrade, there is no real need...

Re: What is better: iMac 27" or 21.5" + separate gaming PC?
Dell Ultra series are excellent screens. I have an U2311H and I am pleased as hell - my wife does photo editing/retouche and I play games on it. Don't let the speed nerds fool you - theoretically, 8 ms speed is enough for drawing more frames than you will ever need. 8 ms allows the screen to draw 12...

Uh, it has a score of 89 on metacritic and I havent met a single person who hated WiC. Well, beside me, because I sucked at it. So what the hell are you talking about?Stark wrote:

Re: Can we blame Ando for Far Cry 3
Perspective is a big problem in game design... and pretty much everything else. The author who created something (be it a book, a painting or a computer game) is not objective and has a really hard time seeing his work "as is". That also includes the QA dudes (testers, test leads etc.) who...

Re: What is better: iMac 27" or 21.5" + separate gaming PC?
The problem I think here is, how much do you want to play PC games? There's a huge difference between 21,5'' and 27'', and I couldn't in good conscience recommend a smaller screen for reasons other than financial. Also, I have no idea what your budget is, but if you could spend a little more, maybe ...

Re: Can we blame Ando for Far Cry 3
If you like games where there is inevitably nobody to shoot, sure! Ultimately it doesn't really matter: once you liberate a checkpoint it becomes a fast travel point, so manual travel isn't needed no more, you just click wherever is near your waypoint and instantly port there. So you don't meet any...

Re: Wireless USB connections
Yes, I can use google, thank you. I was more curious of actual opinions of people using such solutions, not if such a thing exists. If I spent 40 bucks on something that can't penetrate a concrete wall, I would be pissed off. Anyways, I discovered a convenient hole in the wall left over from a TV ca...

Re: Can we blame Ando for Far Cry 3
I see a trend of "insane" villains lately. Maybe because everyone liked Heath Ledger and now every villain should be a raving lunatic psycho murderer? I like FC3 more than FC2. Quite frankly, the story in FC2 wasn't bad, it was just totally meh. No reason whatsoever for the main character ...

Wireless USB connections
I need something to put my printer in the other room (roughly 2-3 meters away through a concrete wall). Preferably a wireless USB connection. Now, there's some talk on teh internetz about wireless USB adapters, are they worth anything?

Re: Small PHP/SQL problem
Okay, found the solution, a bit heavy handed one, but it works.
I added a field in the sql database named odr, assigned integers 1-5 to specific rows and then ORDERed BY odr. Simple, not very elegant, but works for now.

Re: Small PHP/SQL problem
UPDATE: Starting to crack this nut. It seems the proposed solution isn't working because the sortorder column in wp_ngg_album is weird. $aid = 4 is a:5:{i:0;s:2:"26";i:1;s:2:"24";i:2;s:2:"14";i:3;s:2:"25";i:4;s:2:"18";} So the order by function does ...

Small PHP/SQL problem
I have a bit of a problem with my wife's website. About two years ago it was coded based on wordpress by a webdeveloper. Right now, Im picking up the admin's mantle, retro-ing the code and trying to figure it out myself so I can do all the necessary modifications. I've ran into a bit of a problem wh...

Re: Romney honestly thought he would win.
I've heard somewhere that with one failed election another one begins. So I guess it would be good for a politician to show some goddamned CLASS. Oh wait, Romney... Here in Poland, if anyone cares, the former prime minister calls the current prime minister "that man" instead of "prime...

It just shows that GOP are really bad losers. I don't remember New York wanting to leave when Dubya was put into office.

Judging by the way Rockstar deals with stories lately, killing someone might be a heart churning experience when done for the first time. Maybe protagonists will have the PTSD meter as ...

The thing that worries me the most is that they openly admit how they loved Niko Bellic. He was perhaps one of the most boring video game characters. Attempts to add depth were shallow and at some point he felt like he has been dragged into a slapstick comedy and can't get out. If they want to build...

What do you mean by mac power saving suspend?
Sleep/hibernation has been present in 7 too, although it never worked as quickly as on a mac. Haven't had a chance to look at a laptop/tablet with win8pro yet.

This is both good and bad - I mean how the journalists moronify the news to make a sensation. This way, even distorted, the news that something major is going on reaches major public. News about some obscure experimentation would interest nobody outside a small circle of scientists and nerds. Then a...

Just came back from the cinema. Whether this is the best Bond movie up to date or not really depends on your personal taste. If you are more into the "reimagining/reboot" stuff, then it might as well be. If your taste is more suited to Sean Connery stuff, chances are you will hate it for n...

Why did you go to the classic shell, Tolya? Well, I really dislike the start menu of the 7, since it is cluttered with things I don't need. I switched to the lighter 95-themed start menu and did some basic customization and it just feels lighter and more handy to me now. Oh, and the cool feature of...
