I know of a few Asian women who've had somewhat stern methods, but I only heard of one instance when there verbal abuse. All of them seemed to be fairly successful, but many of them had unresolved issues with their mothers, and parents.

Or he could be lying to cover his ass. I don't think his constituients would like to know he has been selling them out. It wouldn't be the first time a politician has said one thing in private and another in public. Still, the private negotiations do show some hope, and Livni might be able to shake...

Obviously they feel strongly enough about their 'pro-life' positions that violence and death against actual living people is a part of their duty to kill those object.
I sometimes wonder at when these people lost their normal strain of thought.

How exactly are they going to "swap" populations who don't want to be "swapped" other than force? She made no mention of arbitrary transfer at all, merely saying that it would be best not to split villages down the middle. And after it was rejected, it wasn't brought up again, i...

Such a depressing situation. I have to say that my impression is that Palestine will gradually disappear. It seems that the Israeli's have "won" although it will take another 50 years for it to happen. Given that Arab Israelis are already a significant voting bloc, that might not be the w...

Seriously? Israel tried to sell its Arab population to Palestine in exchange for concessions? Is it even legal to sell your population against their will to someone else? I'm serious- If you can sell people in peace negotiations for territories, and use money to compensate for territory in peace, l...

This is disappointing and shows how non-committed to peace Israel really is - they would not even come back with a counter offer. The Olmert plan was brought up, here: http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/palestine-papers-documents/4736 Granted, it's far from perfect, but I personally believe it's a (sm...

Re: The Clone Wars Season 3 discussion thread.
Had to say this story-arc was a major step-up for Season 3 so far. The animation and the fight scenes were pretty awesome, and I loved the music that played throughout the latter half. There were a few problems, though, l ike Obi-Wan and Anakin deciding to tackle him on Toydaria, and the possibility...

I can't add on to any real technical things that haven't already been said, but I think a visual relic/regalia of the Sith, something... arcane or mystical, would be an interesting thing.

In previous reports I've seen about him he is said to be motivated by his christian fundementalist faith and considered his firm's work in Iraq and elsewhere as good for the faith as well as good for the bottom line. Ironically enough, he's built mosques at oversea bases, at least according to Vani...

^I thought that's how it worked, I haven't got to that part in the Omen book, so I was going with stuff from Legacy of the Force. Wasn't there a bit where he takes Tahiri back to the Myrkr mission and makes her past self have one last kiss with Anakin before he dies? At any rate, I completely agree...

The method Eternal_Freedom brought up, flow-walking, can't be used to alter the past. It's apparently possible to be seen, but the Force 'smoothes out' the disturbances made by your presence, making it impossible to change anything. If anything, it's more like a extreme form of psychometry. (Brought...

Re-reading 'A Tangled Skein' by Piers Anthony. I'm not sure why, but the book doesn't seem as vibrant to me as it did the first time I saw it.

I doubt that Islamists will be able to take power in Tunisia; Habib Bourguiba, Ali's predecessor, was a die-hard anti-Islamist, and Ali tortured and exiled/tortured hundreds of members. And beyond that, the protests seemed to be of a secular nature.

His first act as President would probably be cutting education and civil services, like he's done here in his home state. And speaking of elections, there's no guarantee he'd even win Minnesota; the third party tends to attract a lot of votes away from his opponent.

I've heard a lot of good things about this, basically its got massively toned done Angst and drama Pretty much. The second movie is where it began to split with the original series, and all of the characters seem to be both less angsty and more human. Rei shows more emotion, Gendo isn't as terrible...

Looks like the president is in Saudi Arabia. Hopefully he'll stay there until some form of justice can be meted out against him (actual justice, not just killing him): http://af.reuters.com/article/topNews/idAFJOE70E00F20110115 On the plus side for Saudi Arabia, this is a slight step up from Idi Amin.
