Emmigrating from the USA
So, I'm getting antsy about the political environment, and I know some of the other intellectuals are pondering it themselves. What goes into the thought process? What does one do to prepare? What jobs or skill sets should I be grabbing before I go? Are degrees important, languages? What should I ex...

I also find Stuarts/Wongs/Duchess' posts fascinating, although I have no background in it. Engineering, systems analysis, etc.

Education without college
So, I'm not in college at the moment, but I wish to continue my education. I have the internet and a laptop, so I figure I can do at least a bit of research on my own. I'm interested in all topics, but as I only have an associates degree in lib-arts, I'm really starting at square one. My question to...

Re: U.S. Army Looks to Lighten Troops' Load
Did you start wearing less armour, if the threat level allowed it, or did everything have to be worn all the time? We all had the basic front and back armor, but some guys chose to use or not use the side sheaths. I used them, but traded out weight elsewhere. Our turret gunners also had full length...

So I originally got into this game when I saw the fire vid. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LnjSWPxJxNs Decided it was so hilarious, I had to try it out. And... this game is more addictive then WoW. My entire DnD crew is playing it, and my WoW guild is starting to switch over. Our map is awash in pyr...

So, I'm reading this story called "Harry Potter and the Methods of Rationality." Its on fanfiction.net, and links to a site called lesswrong. Ive been wandering there most of the night, and they are really big on Bayesian Logic. I went from there to game theory, and wiki had some things on...

o_O Im in ventrilo right now, on my guild account. We do raid pretty frequently, and having the headphones is a godsend.
Not saying that it works for twitchshooters, but for serious raiders, its fantastic.

Re: The Salvation War: Pantheocide. Part Sixty Nine Up
Does Jesus have another army to play with? I remember one of the scary things of LotR was when you defeat one of Sauron's armies, he just rolls up with another one. We going to encounter the virtually unlimited armies of heaven, or is it a wrap for them?

Re: The Salvation War: Pantheocide. Part Sixty Nine Up
Hm. While I know we wrote up plans for targetting armies with nuclear devices, it seems more prevalent in fiction to target cities. Why did we target a field army as opposed to the heavenly city? And is army targetting the trend to expect? See an enemy corps forming and burn them? Or was this more o...

So, I had this film recommended to me. I usually put it in the conspiracy theory section of my head, but I'm watching it in full now. Its intriguing. Anyone else seen it? Its on you tube, and its not a bad way to spend an hour or two.

Modern Warfare
So, this is mostly stuff I've gleaned from Stuarts posts, and I want to make sure I have it right. It's commonly understood that when you go to boot camp, you become a cog in a great machine; you get the same skill set as everyone else, and in general, one infantryman is much the same as the other. ...

I've a hunch Micheal will send Jesus out with the old guard. Ie, a house cleaning of any personnel that's loyal to the old regime. They get stomped, the eternal city is is
disarray, and Micheal does his coup, possibly maintaining his puppet.

Anyone else confused that we can move millions of troops into heaven and still have surprise? Even the demons were telling the higher ups when they lost an army; is there no one telling their boss "hey, there's a new city thattaway, maybe you should check it out." By corrolary, I am curiou...

Dresden v nightside Comparative analysis. Spoilers, obviously. I'm a fan of both series; I enjoy the genre of supernatural noir. However, I've noticed a rather thorough comparison between the two, and decided to write them down. This is from my phone, and ill edit and update it from time to time. Pr...

War Economy
I think this is the right forum, but boot as necessary. From time to time, I read how a country is in a war economy, prices locked, production set, labor running at close to 100%. . . and when they stop, it usually causes some sort of catastrophic depression. The latest example Ive heard of was from...

So, Red and I finally hit infinite city sprawl in SMAC, and decided that was that. So we went to walmart, bought D2, and tried it out. Keep in mind we are heavily into the WoW scene, but never really did diablo. First impressions; I like the grimdark aspects. I like the brass and steel of the Duranc...

Lt Watada did this a couple years back, saying the Iraq war was illegal. I guess it's a good sign the troops check their conscience?

Re: The Paramters of Justifiable Genocide
This is my coffee table logic. Its a theory Ive had for a while, and seems to work in a lot of situations. Ok. Sometimes when two groups of people meet, one of them sees the other and finds it so heinous they have to be destroyed root and branch. Did it with the native Americans, did it with the naz...
