Re: Encouraging acts like this - is it immoral?
If you put a live mammal trap outside and only check it once a month there is no point in even saying that you release non-target species. You might as well kill them too. I'm very much surprised that he said a month. As a professional, I would have assumed he was less irresponsible? ...That's pret...

Re: Encouraging acts like this - is it immoral?
Bear in mind, the traps I have always used are for somewhat larger mammals (largish rats were the max size) and aquatic stuff... but dare I ask, does anything other than rodents ever get in those traps? I've never caught anything other than field mice and voles in tin cats. The laws vary from state...

Re: Encouraging acts like this - is it immoral?
My traps get checked at least once a month, or sooner if a client calls about a mouse getting caught. Glue boards are one of the most useful tools in our arsenal due to the fact you can catch multiple mice and other pests as well. It's not restricted to one pest and you do not need to constantly re...

Re: Encouraging acts like this - is it immoral?
Wouldn't it still be their fault though? You would think so. For example a client wanted me to put out bait stations for her slab ants instead of me using a bait applicator. I advised her that dogs love the smell of ant bait and placing "bait pucks" near the baseboards will just give her ...

Re: Encouraging acts like this - is it immoral?
Lol, really? Suing over that? Would it not be their fault for stupidly putting their fingers in the trap? Unless they were barefoot, I don't really see the danger of hurting toes. Well, that's the thing. Most people do walk around barefoot in their house. They could easily forget where I placed a t...

Re: Encouraging acts like this - is it immoral?
The pest control company I work for favors glue boards over snap traps since it reduces the chance of getting sued due to a customer injuring their hands/feet, to catch multiple rodents on one trap, and to monitor for other pest activity (ants, spiders, roaches, etc). We usually use them indoors onl...

Re: Morality and animals labeled as "pests"
Unfortunately, even in the pest control industry there is no humane way of killing pests without making the environment dangerous for humans. My job prefers glueboards over mouse traps for liability reasons, and to monitor for other pest activity (roaches, ants, etc.). We also use bait laced with wa...

Re: Use of whitening creams in India
I think the original point is that, while labourers were tanned in the Midwest, the upper classes on the West Coast were tanned. Due to the West Coast's massive influence in US media, that has changed the traditional association of tanned skin from labour to upper class, in the Midwest. Then why do...

I'm not sure why this is such a surprise. Sam Raimi is the producer; the same guy that has produced Hercules: the Legendary journeys, Xena: Warrior Princess and the TV adaptation for the Legend of the seeker novels. What do all these shows have in common? Hammy acting, shitty special effects, and ti...

This was a normal occurrence except for the fact that my boss knew he was losing his job and had me transfer the refunds into his friends bank accounts....

I did my part and preordered my copy of season 2 at the first opportunity. I skimmed through the commentaries (which are few and far between unfortunately) before I loaned it to a coworker. Had Chickenpox and Mumps when I was three and five years old. Nothing life-threatening. Other than a mild case of near-sightedness I don't have any health problems at all.
My brother, on the other hand would have died before his 1st birthday due to spinal meningitis.
