already discussed topics that have been resolved

I learned an important lesson today as my first 2 hours of a citizen of bbs.stardestroyer: never repeat topics that have been resovled. In a humiliating discussion with several veteran weboard members, i have dedcided to post this thread: what subjects not to discuss. Since im a newbie, i cant really post anything of use except this: no more threads like this either. So, i present, the incomplete conco guide to newbies.
Note to veterans: please list something here for all our sakes, eg, newbies.

Dude- just use the search function ... any questions have usually been asked before.

This is a fairly broad request. And to be fair it is unreasonable to expect you to already have known what topics have been settled for the most part. I see nothing wrong with new members creating topics already settled because it allows the veteran members to educate the new member and possibly look at the issue a little different. Just declaring old topics final is rather dumb because a new point of view can show something previously missed or not totally examined.

Use the search function to see if the discussion has been done already and including the information you wanted. If you have a new way of thinking about a topic then start a thread about it.

I meant just big topics. Not like one-thread snoozers.

Except for:

Galaxy Class Starship vs. ISD
Whitestar vs. Defiant

Well, B5 debates kinda got changed. One of the more vocal Fivers at SB (of the reasonable kind, not radical) rated Sharlins at only 50 MT per second. With such firepower, the old Defiant vs Whitestar debate kinda died for the fact that MOST people favor the Defiant now. So its not the clear cut never been settled debate it used to.

As for GCS vs ISD. Ah yes, that was my first thread AND first post ever at SB. Catapulted me into the big leauges and started a revolultion of sorts at SB.

I accept the theory everyone must search for the desired topic but the problem is that there's no match for KDY-v150 but there's 694 match for ion cannon.

OK, I know I can tighten the search with more specific parameters but the list should be huge still.

So till I read all the topics I will forgot why I started the search!

I suggest let all topics be published and if it is overtalked a moderator should delete it or simply close it!

Anyone agrees?

Post count has little relevance to the length of time someone has been on. Boba has been at SD longer then you.

You post-count inflation is not a point in your favour, newbie. Still thy tongue, lest you wind up with an unflattering title.

Lord Wong, I bow before thee. School me in the ways of the Force, so I can be a Jedi like someone before me. Preferably not Mike_6002 and Darkstar.

Here's a hint: if all you do is ask people to help you solve your problems or answer your questions, you will be less popular than if you try to help others solve their problems or answer their questions.

Nice rebuke. I admire your skills. I, however, am merely asking for some advice. It's my 4th hour on this board, and I have only asked one thing of you people. I try to help people when i can, but if I have no knowledge of how to help the first place, what can I do?
One thing asked, and already people are calling me stuff.
It's a sad world.
Im reforming.
Sorry.
