Battle droids & blasters

When i saw AOTC yesterday something bugged me with the scene were all the jedi are fighting the drones. When a droid got hit by a blaster bolt (of the same blaster type they are carrying-done by jedi knocking it back or shot by queen Amidaala) all you could see were some sparks @ where they got hit and after that they just fall down, showing no visual damage. How DO they get damaged :?

If they got hit by clonetroopers blasters they got shot to pieces tough.

also, when a blastershot hit the ground almost nothing happened (you would get a bigger hole by pushing your finger in it by sort of speak)

Well, I'm definitely no scientist, and I'm definitely no analyst, but I'll throw in my two cents. I'm guessing that the droids cannot stand up to the kinetic energy of the blaster fire, knocking them down. I'm also guessing that the armour on the droids can withstand most of the heat/energy damage, but might conduct it through to the droid's internals (frying their circuits). Maybe this could explain why there isn't much physical damage to the droids, yet they drop like flies with lots of nice buzzing sounds and switch-off-age. :?

Pft, I don't know, I'm pulling at straws. If anyone would like to back up or rip down my little theory, be my guest. :?

I think the SBD's are more heavily armoured than the basic TF cannon fodder models  An SBD was seen to take a hit, blowing off one arm, but it continued to fight; another SBD took a hit in the torso, which glowed red-hot briefly and the droid seemed to wince, but again, kept fighting. Now, clonetrooper rifles seem to be on the high end of small arms, or the low-end of man-portable artillery  So it may be a case of armour/heat dispersal or lack therof causing internal damage. Heavier weapons like the clonetroopers' solve the problem by blowing the target to pieces

can be
an even simpler explanation could be that when the BD falls, it cant get up on its own

Clonetroopers carry much larger and much more powerful blaster rifles. (Padme could fire one of those blaster rifles of the battle droids one-handed - they can't pack that much recoil.)

Then again we know blasters have some sort of EMP/ionization effect (TESB), so that may simply have occured with some battle droids (they get their electronics disrupted, maybe some surface damage, but no real penetration of their bodies.)
