one world goverment?

Here's my plan:
senate: each current nation gets 2 Senators. Can run as many times as wishes; term 3yrs.
Representatives: for every 10 million people (at the most) 1 seat See above for info on terms and running.
Supreme Court: every continent gets to send 1 Judge to the Supreme Court.(with the exception of the continent with the highest pop. wich will send 2 in order to end the possibility of a tie. Antartica will be the only continent not to send any Judges, Senators etc. since there are no permament settlements.) Can only run once; term 10yrs.
President: elected by popular vote, in case of tie congress decides: restricted to one 5 year term; chooses running mate
Cabinet: see President
Major difficulties: language, cultural differences, what about the worlds monarchs? and Christian fundies

Good luck. It'll never work; humans are far too territorial.

Yeah, utopia is always a nice dream, but there are far too many religious and political nuts declaring that this land is sacred, or this land belongs to their people, etc. It's sad.

There are just too many problems here ae some I thought of:
Religion - As in isloationist opposition
Language barrier
Corruption world leader simply wipe out his Senate, take power such as me as this abomination of goverment ever could form
Election people with most population would win per se from each continent leading Asia too be the poltitcal leader
Currency conversion
Economic system, as in choosing one

Well, it'll work if this world government has a really big fucking army that owes it's alliegence first to the gov't, and not to any individual state.

We can't have that now can we.. Better destroy the thing first so my Robot/Cyborg Beaver armies can rise from the ashes of the Nuclear fire.. LGM-118A MX missiles stand ready for launch
Seriously though, one world government will not work in our lifetimes, and I suspect the world will be destroyed before it ever does.

A one world government is the WORST idea for the ideal world, period.
With nowhere to go to escape this government, and no outside pressures or anything else, it would inevitably become a dictatorship.

You only need to look at the buerocratic bullshit and resistance to a continental government in Europe to know that a world government simply can't work in the forseeable future.
I mean, if those few countries on the same continent with many things in common can't unify well, what hope is there for the entire world?
I think there'd be more chance of an Alien Overlord taking over the world and building a ray gun to destroy a planet we've never even heard of (don't blame me when it happens, I will have voted for Kodos) than there is of a stable world government.

Humans work well together if there is a common threat. The world will probably not unite unless something like hostile aliens are discovered.

I think something along the lines od the United Citizen Federation as seen in Starship Troopers would be the ideal 1 world government

Political parties: I live in North America, we have a canidate who's a facist in all but name, at the same time in Europe theres a canidate who shares my political beliefs ( it's a world not continental election by the way) solution?
Vote for the european guy I would rather have someone who shares my political beliefs, yet lives thousands of miles aways in office than said local facist.
Borders: with the borders not as strict as they were it's much more likley that we'll see world migration patterns forming e.g. few million chinese moving to Germany Few million french moving to Canada etc.
Exspansion: it'll take a while but there is allways the distinct possibility that given enough time orbital space colonys for examples might reach a level of development where they would eligable to become full members instead of mere extensions of whoever founded them. I.E. a spanish space colony for example
I'll try to post later on the other points you raised

For a military/political system like that to work, the society being defended needs to be worth defending. However a society with utilized that system would not be worth defending. Nice little catch 22. It can't possible work because of that catch 22 and is a generally bad idea.

Army? Against whom? (ie, Ender's Game series...we don't have buggers out there that we know of, do we?) If the world is all under one government, then why should there eb an army? /jk...to keep civilians under control...but just draft everybody into the military, and then set up a political social system so that people never understand what it is to be outside the army...of course, you WILL have to repress undergrounds...(ie, Harrisson Bergeron types).

ohh please, its the ideal society. You take showers with tons of hot naked chicks, and noone cares. There are no racial probems from what I see. and the only people allowed to have any power are the same people who are willing to die for the system, thereby disenfranchising the uzerpers who are there just for the ride and don;t give 2 shits about the country.
I only saw the society in the movie, but I would like to make some points. there wasn't any obligation or any penalty for not gaining citizenship. Militarty service was just one way to get it, and it was the fastest. I think they made some good points about violence and political discourse/resolution of disputes. what would the city fathers of Hiroshima say about that?
I really can't find any faults in the system. It looked cool. I think the US should make the political reforms neccessary to be more like it.
Dam hippies, we will keep them out of the public square finally.

The faults of that movie system is that if you join the Mobile Cowardly, uh, Infantry you have less chance of surviving than a Redshirt.

The "UCF" is a travesty. A nation where suffrage is only given to those who serve the State and open themselves to brainwashing by the State. They are not a democracy, they are not a free nation nor an ideal society. They are a mockery of everything that freedom stands for.
I have not served in the military, nor will I. You can have my voter's registration when you pry it from my cold dead fingers.

BTW, good luck turning the US into the Heinleinian fascist pseudo-democracy, because you're going to have to rip up the Constitution (both Federal and State Constitutions) to do it.
