Grand Moff Tarkin, instead of allowing Daala as admiral, promotes a new captain named Ivannova. after some simmering in the maw, she is released into the galaxy.

what happens?

I would say that in terms of fighting spirit and force of personality (vital for a commander) sshe beats Daala hands down. As for actual tactical and strategic command, she is also Daala's clear superior. Ivanova has faced horrible odds and come out on top- Daala just flops.

Additionally, Ivanova is probably far better in bed than Daala, ensuring that she will be able to coax even more prestige and powwer out of Tarkin.

I think that before the first Death Star would have been completed, Tarkin would have found himself breathing vacuum after one of his meeting with Ivanova... Then she would take his place when the DS is operational, track the Rebels to Yavin, fight Luke in a X-Wing vs. Tie duel, kill that little mongrel and finally blow up the planet.

Cue in the Emperor's Palace, Grand Moff Ivanova receives a medal by Palpatine and the Imperial March is playing in the background.

How is it that we always, always, break these things down into some sort of lesbian fest? I mean, while I love hot, lesbian sex as much as the next guy, don't you think we've over done it a bit?

And then she'd be in the cell block 1128 awaiting termination right? Killing regional govenors isn't a good idea for gaining power in the empire.

Ivanova isn't powerhungry, but she doesn't fail to flex nuts, or in her case rather crush them.
If she is given a station of power then she will use the power to control the station and use it to the best of her abilities.

Since unlike Daala Ivonava is not stupid enough to go terrorist when she realizes how horribly she will get her ass kicked if she attempts any full on confrontations, I say she surrenders and gets enough benefits for the Maw information and handing over 4 functional star destroyers to buy her own planet and retire in style.

That depends in good part on the following: Does her latent telepath status qualify her as force sensitive?

If so, then Tarkin may have just promoted one of the Hands of the Emperor to admiral. It would eventually give the Emperor an excuse to promote her to one of those spiffy white uniforms.

Given the character's obvious talent for and apparent liking for fighter combat, any fleets commanded by her will likely have the ship hangars well-stocked with the best Imperial fighters and bombers she can acquire.

Ivanova's fleet tactics are not necessarily hugely inspired, but undoubtedly effective. Better a solid, competent commander willing to use conventional tactics effectively than an erratic commander relying utterly on an endless string of intricate plots, bizarre superweapons, brainwashed triple agents, etc. all to avoid having to display actual competence.

Also, Ivanova has a potential role as the popular face of the Empire or, possibly at a later time, the popular face of the Rebellion. "Now! On Imperial HoloNetNew! Commander's Corner with Grand Admiral Susan Ivanova, Voice of the Empire!"

She woudln't last long to be honest, the Imperial navy is too well disciplined for her, she would start saying her feelings and concerns (which would probably be warranted) and she would be either rubber manded, or if she said the wrong thing near vader, killed
