Bye-bye Starfleet Jedi

Anyone remember that message board that hosted a lot of the morons from the days of ST vs SW almost 20 years ago? Well it's officially dead:
Hello,

As discussed elsewhere previously, 'Jedi Master Spock' had been looking to get away from maintaining this site and this board. Technical issues and moderation problems in an age of incessant spambots have resulted in this latest restored backup you're seeing now.

I was and am loathe to see all the history just disappear, but scarcely have any time anymore for lengthy hobby activities . . . posting would be bad enough, but moderating and maintaining, too? With my own lack of time and distractions, I was even failing to coordinate a handoff or other orderly archival, and JMS was rightly going to merely shut it all down. I've jumped in to avoid that temporarily in the hopes of finding a long-term solution that keeps the posts available and accessible but the spambots and hackers at bay. However, for now, the simplest solution was to lock everything down as much as possible.

I believe PMs are still available for established users, so feel free to reach out. Reddit users can also pop over to https://www.reddit.com/r/STvSW/ to check in, or e-mail me . . . it's g2k at my website.

I'll post more information as available.

Thanks again to all, especially JMS, plus Mike D. and Trinoya, for the twenty years of amusement, bemusement, amazement, and astonishment that these Versus Debates could bring, and the work they did to keep things going.

To everyone, "here's to ya, lads."
Bye, Felicia.

Reading a thread called "Archival / future of forums" there and stumbled across this:
The forum era is in decline, sure. However, there are functional gun forums and other broad community forums, and larger niche forums that survive. As for other forums that cover this topic, StarDestroyer.Net probably endures mostly for its rumored porn forum and similar off-topic bits . . . certainly the Trek vs. Wars section is dead. Spacebattles and Sufficient Velocity are extremely broad in scope so may attract folks interested in the latest Hollywood spectacle, but for Trek vs. Wars it's sparse as hell.
SD.Net apparently has a secret porn forum.

His link to https://old.reddit.com/r/STvSW/ doesn't seem to have anything there either...

Oddities aside, the decline of the forum era and replacement by social media (with it's algorithms and other shittiness) has made the internet far worse.

Secret porn forums. But it's the kind of stuff that ruins your childhood, I can never watch Mary Poppins the same way again.

I can neither confirm nor deny if there were Secret Porn Forums on SDnet.

I will confirm a forum was named A.R.S.E.
