Recent staff changes

In case anyone's been wondering, you are not imagining things. There have been some changes in the staff. The following moderators were removed:
- Zaia
- Colonel Olrik
- Durandal
- Grand Admiral Thrawn
- Stravo
- Rob Wilson
- Mr Bean
- fgalkin
- Ghost Rider
- SirNitram
- Pablo Sanchez

Please note that this is not to be interpreted as an insult toward any of these people, all of whom have worked hard to contribute in the past. In some cases, they were removed because they are no longer active enough here to be on the staff. In other cases, they were removed just to shake up a staff that had become somewhat stagnant.

Feel free to comment, but only in a constructive manner. Gloating over the removal of a mod (or for that matter, the elimination of the House of Commons or the dissolving and pending reorganization of the Senate) is not acceptable.

Excessive drama, politicking, and factionalism were major reasons for the recent board restructuring moves. Everything related to board administration was increasingly interpreted as political maneuvering. Simple mistakes were seen as conspiracies, simple disputes were viewed as power plays. Please refrain from continuing that negative trend here.

EDIT: Pablo Sanchez added.

I think this is an excellent move - the active board staff was becoming rather thin with many members not very active anymore. Is the board administration planning on adding additional staff?

I fully support these staff changes, for the record. Hopefully, this will dispel anyone's illusion that the events that occurred recently were a conspiracy of some sort by the Staff to oppress the board's members, or something equally silly.

The board needed a shakeup at all levels, and this is exactly what has been done.

Have a very nice day.

So the vomit green colour indicates "former moderator"?

[removed because I'm stupid]

They've gone Missing in Action.

Will there be an increase in moderators?

Most likely.

Have a very nice day.

I hope that the opposite has also been dispelled. That there was some secret, subversive movement to supplant or undermine the established authority on this board. Or anything equally silly.

It looks like a good move. Especially the removal of the long since inactive mods. Glad to see Dalton is back poking his monkey nose around again as well.

Ooooooooh shit...

Anyway, the inactive moderators were a security concern in any case; no sense leaving them with mod powers in case someone brute-forces a password. I hadn't realized Durandal had gone MIA; shows how much attention I've been paying. :?

I'll admit that I'm surprised to see GR on that list, as I remember him both being a very active mod, and also quite uninvolved with the regrettable blowups in the former senate, hoc and testing. Well, hopefully it only gets better from here.

Zaia popped in a few days ago, but Durandal hasn't posted since July 29 (which caught me for a loop, too). Stravo's absence surprised me the most - from what I saw when I searched the most recent posts, he posted on October 16, but he hadn't posted in nearly a year before that (although he'd apparently been lurking at least part of the time).

It looks like we're missing a mod for Fantasy now. The place doesn't get too much traffic, though, so it's probably not gonna be an issue for a while.

That's right, you better run.

I am still in contact with Durandal, but I truly don't think he gives a shit.

While we're sort of on the topic, might I ask if anyone knows whatever happened to Faram? He used to mod G&C, but it seems he just left.

Faram slipped out quietly last year due to real-life obligations.

Wow, I'd forgotten how many Mods haven't been seen around here for ao long. Half that list was no-shows.

Thanks to the outgoing staff for all your hard work. I think I've dealt with most of the people on that list since I started here. My run-ins with the staff have pretty much all been helpful so I appreciate the work you did.

Well, this is clearly proof that Zaia does not exist, and that Shep and Zaia are actually the same person.

Durandal was eaten by the Apple empire and that was the end of him.

Yes, Jobs is Hungry.

Strange, I was sort of wondering where Durandal had gone for a while now.
Oh well, I'll have to think up a new CT I guess :)

I think people forget how many years this board has been operating. It's been around for more than seven years. That's enough time for a lot of changes in a lot of peoples' lives. Some peoples' lives will change in a way that has no effect on their use of this board, other peoples' lives will change in such a manner that they have no time for or interest in the board any more at all. But as a general rule, peoples' lives can be assumed to have changed quite a bit since the early days of the forum.

For that matter, I would even say that the entire world has changed quite a bit since then. US politics in particular are almost unrecognizable if you look at the contrast between 2002 and 2009.

I freely admit I'm new here; but seems to me that Ghost Rider, fgalkin, and SirNitram were all mods that I'm quite familiar with. Just what was the standard used to judge activeness (assuming, of course, that its a matter of public record.)? It's just odd to me that these are some of the only mods that I'd ever actually noticed around the board.
