Should we consider voting for new senators?

Post by Connor MacLeod »

It's occured to me amidst all the ban threads popping up, we haven't had another vote for Senators in some time. It's got me wondering, have we run out of worhty canidates, or is there jsut disinterest in electing new Senators, or what?

I'm not actually proposing we start one now, per se, I'm just a little curious on the apparent silence (since last I can tell, it was back in Oct./Nov.

I have to admit I've wondered why a few people still aren't senators. People like Stas Bush and Aerius or J seem to be (at least to me) worthy of possible Senatorial status - am I the only one thinking that (again I'm not nominating anyone or anything, I'm just trying to get a feel for the opinion of my fellow Senators.)

Well, didn't you just steal the topic right out from under me? :P

Yes, I was going to post a new nominations thread and suggest Stas Bush as the candidate.

As far as aerius and J go, I have no objection to adding J to the Senate, but no way that we make aerius a Senator. There are far worthier candidates on the board.

It is time we inducted some new members to the Senate. I recommend Stas Bush as well. I recommend him for... FELLATIO!!!!

(as in, giving). For ALL the Senate. Or cunnilingus, as applies.

Seriously, we should consider a nominations thread.

Strange. I was thinking of the people I was considering and Stas was at the top of the list.

Seriously does nobody read the fucking rules thread?
2. Peon, I choose you! - Beginning on the 2nd of every month the forum shall be placed open for the nomination of prospective Senators. Nomination shall close on the 24th of each month (excepting February when it will close on the 21st). The nominees who have been seconded shall be placed into a poll by the Chancellor, the Whip, or an Executor whomever should be first available.
I know people laugh when I go mucking about with the rules but the floor was open for nomination this month from the 2nd through the 21st, it was open last month from the 2nd to the 24th and it will be open next month from the 2nd to the 24th. If you have nominations please post them in a [Member] thread starting on the 2nd. Every month is open you just have to nominate.

I'm of the opinion we're fine holding at 30 Senators. Any more, it would be unwieldy

Small note on the numbers there are 54 users with posting access in the Senate of which 48 are active. The remaining 6 positions are occupied by folks who have either notified me that they intend to be inactive for a period OR who have missed the last 6 consecutive votes and are being held inactive OR Rob, W who can access but whose vote only counts in a tie.

Yeah, Stas Bush is a shoo-in in my eyes, but I'd not be able to support J or Aerius, I confess.

Waterboarding!

Actually, our Whip should PM and ask them whassup. If no reply is heard by the end of March, and a quick Search reveals little or no activity worth note, then we move on to phase two, which is... something awful, I'm sure. Listing them publicly as Hillary Clinton supporters or something?

Without going into extensive detail I am working to finalize who is definately out and who is just temporarily out. In a few cases amongst those inactives they are folks who have given me notice and a timeframe they intend to be inactive (mostly so they don't receive vote spam).

Nonetheless if I can't resolve the situation then I will bring matters to the attention of the Senate for discussion.
