Level of education poll

In response to SFJedi claims of superior education, I am starting a poll to determine the level of education at SD.net. I'll start by saying that I am in the last year of an experimental psychology degree with an emphasis on mathematical modeling of visual processing and memory.

I don't think that an online poll is a good way of measuring the board's true educational standards. Too unreliable.

What the hell am I supposed to choose for a military trades course?

True, but SFJedi are basing their level of education on a similar poll, so it should give an idea of parity, given a large enough sample.

What is a military trades course? Try choosing the level of education that you think is the closest match, or click other.

I don't see what the point is of answering SFJ's poll. They're a bunch of kiddie liars anyway. They're still at the high school mentality level where they treat credentials like tropical fish: the more "exotic" they are, the better. Never mind applicability to the job, right?

That's why so many kiddies love to spout about quantum mechanics stuff they picked up from Googling; they look for the most "exotic" thing they can, with no comprehension whatsoever of the fact that unless we're designing micro-scale technology or dealing with degenerate matter conditions, it's irrelevant.

You don't have an option for GED.

While not proud of my lack of education, I will still tell the truth about it.

That assumes equal levels of honesty, which I would not assume in their case.

I'm sure that if you ponder it, you'll come up with an answer.

Me personally, I'm still in high school. I'm also not very strong at math, so I'm probably one of the least qualified people from a technical standpoint.

I agree totally. When it comes down to looking at it totally objectively, this poll isn't any more reliable than theirs. Hence why I was so opposed to it in the first place, although I still voted honestly just for the sake of it.

Same here, I suck at math, but score very high on the science and english parts of those standardized testing deals.

I go to Bravo Medical High School in Los Angeles Ca. (Should we put that here?)

What grade are you in?

If you're trying to decide which community is more educated, you should weigh in how much each member contributes to the community.

Trolls, lurkers, and other folks who contribute little to the trek/wars debate or the culture of the forum will also be voting in this poll. I voted, and I make less than three posts a month.

Currently HS Diploma (With advanced math, physics, Electronical systems and electronic engineering) and 3 Uni courses :P .
Not much, but I plan to study for a degree or two as soon as I finish the army (obviously. Well, obvious from my world view).

Oh, and unreliable? Pish posh, why my PHD 16 year old sister would have a lot to say about that, before I finished tutoring her in advanced black body radiation in between my building a better mousetrap :P

I'll admit I have to agree with the sentiment of "why the fuck are we doing this?"

The very concept of trying to refute or counter anything SFJ does smacks of Darkstar's own sense of me-too-ism. Let the little cumstains have an education poll. We've already systematically proven that they are either liars, misrepresenting their educations, or sucking off their teachers to pass.

I have currently finished the requirements for a Bachelors in physics, and am completing a second Bachelors in Philosophy before graduating. I am a 5th year senior however, so I am sorta loser when it comes to being more educated than a bunch of kids. I am hoping to enter grad school to a Masters in Applied Physics, sometime before 2010. I would like to go on to get a Ph.D if I can actually do so.

Isn't this an Off Topic subject?

Just moving because who the fuck really honestly cares what those ignorant fucking morons think on SFJ. They still cannot grasp BASIC HIGH SCHOOL PHYSICS.

Senior in high school, very good in history, English, and physics, not so good in maths or the other sciences. Currently in honors calc, AP English lit, and what amounts to a college-level history course beyond AP US History.

Education isn't the kind of thing you measure in a poll.

Polls are about finding the MOST of a category. What the hell does it mean if a community has mostly undergraduates, if there's one genius on them? Absolutely nothing. The thing most of you kids don't realize is when Mike asks for people to show credentials, it's not because he thinks you need anything more than high school to do this... simple thing of Star Trek versus Star Wars. It's because he doesn't want to waste his time, and there happens to be a lot of morons in high school. That's it.

In short, who the fuck cares how many people have high school or college? By the way the poll is itself flawed. A half completed education is worthless, so the poll should really go: High School, Undergraduate, Masters, Ph.D., Trades/Certificate. The fact that you don't know this makes me think you're a kiddie too. I will tell you right now there are plenty of people who make it to first or second year but can't make it third or fourth, but all those guys who wash out? Half finished means nothing, in fact worse than nothing because you wasted your time.

It looks like blatant attention whoring. Ohhhhhhhhhh our message board has more smarter people than your message board, even though I'm not smart myself! Give me a break.

Like GR says, who the fuck cares.
