Best Dogfight scene

Post by Sam Or I »

There are not to many good ones out there, usually there are just big battle scenes where all you see is ships blowing up right away. The one scene that stands out for me is from space: above and beyond. Lt Col McQueen vs Chiggy Von Richtoven.

SAAB , what an utter tripe of a show.......

No for my money , the best dogfight is the YF-22 Super Veritech vrs the YF-23 Ghostrider Veritech from the final episode of the anime "Macross Plus"

That's the YF-21 "Omega One" and the X-9 "Ghost."

And neither of them are "Veritechs."

I like the "duel" (read: massacre) seen in the opening credits of Wing Commander IV. Heh, heh, heh.

Any of the fights in Top Gun. The battle near DS1 still gives me chills. You knew those evil-looking TIEs were out there, and once they got behind you, you were toast.
I love the smell of BDZ in the morning.

As much as it shames me to say, the dogfights over the English Channel from "Pearl Harbor" were pretty slick.

My favorite moment is still ROTJ, when the Rebel fleet hypes in and all you see is Star Destroyers, a Death Star, and a horde of TIE's.

Say that again, and you will regret it!

I also think that the S:AAB series had many more great dogfight scenes, anything where the 58th were 'reign in fire!', was just too cool!

Yes I should point this out, the only sci-fi show I ever liked as much as Star Wars was S:AAB, with B5 second.

I like the ROTJ dogfight. There was lots of action, and stuff blowing up, I just with they replaced all the footage given to the Ewoks and devoted it to more of the dogfight.

The DS1 attack in ANH was also pretty good.

YF-19 vs YF-21 at the end of Macross Plus, easily.

And the YF-21 Sturmvogel prototype is a veritech, they can also still be classed as Valkyries seeing as it is a name for a transforming fighter.

Anyway, even before the X-9 comes into play, Guld and Isamu pulled off manoeuvres that would make any other fighter pilot barf.
