Well, that's actually the best ending I think Durkon could want right now.

Unless the two adults go into a side room for a bit...

1185. This reads like a break point; wonder if we're going to Team Evil next. Been awhile.

I love the animals from the Bag of Critters tucking Roy in.
Also love that people are actually Doing Things on their Own, although I wonder who V is sending a message to?

Ok... Invisibility, flight, cold-adapted, rogue/assassin classed, and pretty sure this will end their existence. What are they?

Whoever they are, they know about the Gate and believe that taking the paladins out of the picture will doom it and result in the gods destroying the world. I would guess some sort of guardians of Kraagor's gate, except that they've made no effort to stop Team Evil.

Ghetto edit: If you notice, they also took the paladins' weapons. So I believe they do intend to administer the antidote and have some use for them, but damned if I know what.

Kraagor's halfling rogue friend Serini Toormuck and associate would be my guess. Flight and invisibility aren't that hard for a high-level non-caster to get access to.

Well, if it's Serini I'd like to know where she got herself a sidekick. Also, with the whole deal with separate stewardship of the gates, I wonder if she's smart enough to realize that the paladins aren't here as part of a takeover plot a la Girard Draketooth.

It's a bit weird to realize at this point, how long it's been since we saw anything of Xykon, nvm the party interacting with him or his minions. Heck, Elan's father was yeaars ago.

Not as slow as Fire & Ice, at least. ;)
And hell, have you seen how long Girl Genius was stuck in Mechanicsburg?

Part of the slow pace was the authors injury that prevented him from doing anything related to the comic for nearly a year.

From what I understand, it still limits him, but not nearly as badly.

Slow pace? Yes. Beyond author control? Partially. Worth the wait?
ABSOLUTELY.

And now is the perfect time to pickup Girl Genius because one of the longest most interminable story arcs just got (partially) resolved.

BTW, don't know how much of an interest there would be for it here but I've put out a python web-scrapers that will automatically download the images from Order of the Stick and Girl Genius.
