Italy vs Swedish political correctness...

Post by Spoonist »

So recently in April, the local IKEA in Italy had an ad with the slogan "we are open to all families" (in Italian of course) with two men holding hands.

That didn't go down well with some Italian politicians and media.
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article ... hands.html
Burleskoni's paper wrote: (Yes I know its Berlusconi, its a pun get over it).
it was ''not an isolated incident'' but a clear attempt at ''Swedish Imperialism'' that tried to make everyone equal by having the same ''cheap furniture.''
That started some heated internet arguments about gay rights etc. Which of course led to some politicians on both sides to comment.
So just a storm in a glass of water.

Fast forward a couple of months and an Italian mayor is on vacation in Stockholm, Sweden and gets the bright idea to hit his 12 year old kid in a public street. He gets arrested and has to sit in jail for two nights.
The defence and the prosecution have a different take on how much but both agree that he hit his child.
Here is one side:

(Scolding & slap)
Here is the other:
http://sverigesradio.se/sida/artikel.as ... el=4672797
(Lifting in the hair, pushing against wall, striking)
However any "abusive" or "demeaning" treatment of children is illegal in sweden so he will get convicted, but most probably only get fined or probation/suspended sentance. (If there had been vids of him striking that can end you up with six months to two years in prison).

Regardless, again Burleskoni's party (to whom the italian mayor belong) and paper gets into another furor and accuse sweden of all kinds of funny weird things. Which so far has led to a decrease of tourists from Italy to Sweden and some cross words from Italy regarding Sweden in the EU.
Another storm in a glass of water.

One of the italian tabloids also made a list of top 100 things sweden had done to italy, they included Zlatan but still they missed the taking of rome by the goths.

So have you felt the power of the great Swedish Empire subjugating the world with political correctness? Do you tremble before the might of do it yourself furnitures, safe cars and "ombudsman" representives taking over? Do you fear that removing your condom during sex will lead to rape charges? Maybe you just shiver with cold dread that hate speech might be prosecuted, or even worse, religious hate speech as well?
Do you wet your beds at night thinking of how swedish socialism will mean the downfall of the terran empire of capitalism?
Do you like Bill O'Reilly, Glen Beck, Fred Phelps, GOP and now Italy fear the the stockholm syndrome?

We have got conan hostage and are not afraid to misuse him. (The barbarian, not the talk show host, dimwit...)

That is actually correct because the Goth confederation had very little in common with Swedes.

If the Normans of Normandy were from Sweden, I say modern Swedes are welcome to conquer my country: when a group of them came and conquered a piece of Italy, their territory florished.

LMAO. If only all forms of imperialism were this benign.

They want to make people equal by selling cheap furniture! Those bastards! :x

The link also had this bit about the advertisement:
It labelled it as ''provocative'' and added:'’What's behind all this? It's not awareness of gay rights for gay couples. It's just a brazen marketing strategy.’
So an advertisement distributed by an international for-profit corporation is just a marketing strategy. Hold the presses!

Keep in mind that those articles are written by shameless shills for Berlusconi and his cohorts in ways that would make the average Fox News "guy who puts Ds next to the name of Republicans involved in scandals" cringe. Specifically, that was a stillborn attempt to create a moral panic to help cover for the fact the the government hasn't actually done anything productive in years.

If you had read the list you would have realised that "very little in common" would have been right up their alley. It included such gems as the swedish king helping Bonaparte invade italy, giving the concept of time travel a new dimension with Bernadotte.
Just like IKEA having anything to do with Swedish governement or Swedish imperalism.
So not including the goths, how little a connection there might be, must have been an oversight.

While they were of scandinavian heritage, the Normans were mostly from the western parts, as in norway denmark ireland orkney and anglian england, so pretty much any norseman except for the swedes. Well depends on how you define norsemen and sweden, since the west coast of modern sweden was loosely associated with norway at the time.

You mean that Bill, Glen and Fred the paragons of truth that they are could learn a trick or two from Burleskonis assossiactes? Ah, so maybe that is the connection between Gaddaffi and Rice, a Burleskoni party....
