Think he'll have time to shuffle around a few more pedophiles to other diocese before he croaks?

Anyone find it ironic he submitted to "God's Will" while condemning Michael Schiavo for doing the same for his wife?

Have a very nice day.

Ah, but not only was the Pope receiving nutrients through a feeding tube, such treatment isn't considered life support or prolonging a person's life through extreme measures!

It looks like he won't die the same day as Terri Schiavo, but that won't stop Jesus whores from making some sort of convoluted connection.

Well, if the Pope passes away, we won't have to hear about the Schiavo case ever again, as the media will be busy covering his death for the next week or two.

That's good news, I guess.

I actually feel sorry for the pope, though. He's suffering from a number of crippling conditions, not the least of which being his degenerative neurological disorder. I hope that he goes as painlessly as possible, anyway.

I'm not picky. SO long as I'm not beaten over the head with it when I open a newspaper.

Nah, the media's 10-minute attention span will take care of that anyway ... the Schiavo crap took over for the Laci Peterson crap ... next week it's more Michael Jackson crap ... there's always some sick story the infotainment industry fixates on despite its complete lack of newsworthiness.

Got one, who's next?
Sadly the catholic church got an inexhaustible number of popes :(

What i hate about this old guy is that basically he's just an ordinary human simply dying. But people shocked reading about that a 82 year old has to die as if it was such a surprise. I guess they are expecting the pope to live forever.

Everybody knows people die eventually, but that doesn't mean that handing over power happens easily. What would happen tomorrow if Renhquist died? would people sit there and go, "He was an old guy. We knew he was going to die eventually"?

I'm more worried about the fallout should he kick it, especially in regards to who may replace him. I read the list of possible candidates on a thread here some time back and, well, anybody who's hoping for progress in the Catholic Church in the next couple decades is more than likely going to be dissapointed.

Agreed. Let him pass in peace... we don't need another damn Schiavo on our hands.

I think the church needs something different From the last couple of Popes. I'm in the mood for another false/anti-Pope; been ages since we last had one. :D

Over at Wikipedia, the news post says he was given the Anointment of the sick. My first thought was "Why doesn't that sound good?" and yeah, thats the other name for Last Rites.

Oh well, I respect any guy who survives an assassination attempt, then later forgives his would be killer. Plus, the Pope Mobile pwned.

The next Pope isn't going to be much younger than JP2, most of the cardinals who are considered papabile are between the ages of 65 and 75 to begin with.

I just hope Ratzinger doesn't get it, the man's a bozo.

To be honest, I don't. The Culture of Forgiveness has gotten out of hand. People now look at you funny if you don't forgive. Look at that poor bastard down in Florida whose 9 year old daughter was kidnapped, raped, and murdered by a sicko piece of shit pedophile. He refuses to forgive, and wants the fucker executed ASAP. Who can blame him? Ahh, but the churches are telling him that it's un-Christian to think this way, and now he is perceived as having some kind of character problem.

The Pope sure is taking his sweet time. Perhaps he's scared that he picked the wrong religion after all and Allah's gonna send his old wrinkly infadel ass straight to Hell.

I find it odd that there's such pressure to forgive without cause. As though you ought forgive anyone for anything, even if they haven't done anything to remotely warrant that forgiveness. Sure, you might get a bad wrap if you still hated someone who later made huge moves to better the world or something, but that's quite rarely the case.

Fuck blanket forgiveness.

Now, in terms of the Pope, well... *shrug* If we want them to stop dying so often, we should make the next Pope a bristlecone pine tree.

Though we'd have to do something to silence those continual accusations of spilling seed :P
