Not very practical, but I like the solar sailors from Phoebus Krumm. Probably carrying the space as ocean thing a bit far, but you can't deny they're pretty to look at.

The bubble is a field that retains atmosphere and retains/radiates heat as needed. Yes, those are solar sails, crew quarters, weapons etc are mostly in the acorn shape.

I thought the vortex looking thing might be the interstellar medium being scooped in by the big magnetic fields.

I'm sorry. Is this acceptable as beautiful beautiful? Or does it not stand up to y'all's discerning standards?

I like how this is turning out- a lot of the good stuff people used to do, back when book covers were often made by painters instead of Photoshop artists.

Some apparently hard(ish) SF themed pretty ships I found on the internet:

Bussard ramjet (apparently) leaving galaxy:

Solar sail catching the sun:

Solar sail and comet:

At least that's what I think these craft are supposed to be.

Some of these drawings reminded me of comic books which reminded me of:

Image

The Smartship Friday. A ship, that's also a submarine, with a very friendly AI and an artificial soul.

Image

The Starjammer. Not the space-whale ship, the gold one that's about to be eaten. Sorry, it was the best picture I could find on the web from the days before they turned the Starjammer into an ice-cream sccop.

No, not at all... Why can't people understand the difference between "beauty" and "looks cool".
I mean, I know it's subjective... but to a point. Come on.

Like the VIEW is beautiful, the ship, looks cool.

To me it is beautiful, I don't know if it's the straight forward, simplistic and extremely realistic design or just me being nerdy over a spaceship, but I honestly find that ship to be absolutely gorgeous.

The nBSG Galactica is the only other ship that I find beautiful.
