Thanks for reminding. Actually the question is for Lord HuMan, who claimed that "The ventral side is the only way to escape the laser fire of half the ship... "

According to EU materials, even a glancing hit from a dorsal HTL will destroy a Corvette _through shielding._ And as has been already established, ISD ventral TLs are quite capable of defeating a Corvette. A corvette must have about 1/100th the mass and armament of an ISD. It would take squadrons upon squadrons of them to conventionally defeat an ISD.

It would depend on what range of fire those ventral guns have.

Ok ok I'm stupid.

I was just stating what I thought would be the best way to engage the Star Destroyer with a much smaller and weaker ship. I even said that it would be almost impossible for a CR90 to survive, even if the Star Destroyer's commander was a bonehead. I take back what I said earlier... The ventral side is one of the weaker areas of the Star Destroyer because it is out of the fire arcs of most of the dorsal weapons and some of the starboard and port weapons. However, there is less turbolaser fire coverage towards the aft, where about 10 turbolasers on the ship have the needed fire arcs and range to hit a smaller vessel in that area. Also, if the CR90 somehow manages to survive long enough, it has the chance to bring its guns to bear with the shield generators, along with the bridge which is a few hundred meters away. This is just my idea of a good strategy and I acknowledge that it is probably impossible to destroy a Star Destroyer in a Corvette... So don't jump down my back about it.

The only way for a smaller ship to beat a SD is for it to get directly behind or beneath it. That is impossible unless another larger ship is distracting the SD's fire.
