Iwiki required plugins

Post by Stark »

Mad has informed me that there are several useful plugins the Iwiki could use to clean up and make things a bit easier. I'm going to start a list here of 'wiki-like' functionality I'd like to see, and hopefully someone can explain how to implement it.

- the wikipedia reference thingy. I like it, it's unobtrusive but provides full links, etc

- differently formatted 'flag box' things, that let viewers of a page know that the page requires cleanup/fact checking/etc

Please feel free to add to the list, and if anyone knows how the Mike or the admins would implement this stuff, please let us know.

This Wikipedia page has more information. The plugin is called "Cite.php".

Does this require a plugin? We could do this by making a template that creates the box and adding a page to Category:Needs Cleaning (or similar).

No idea. :) If it's just a cut'n'paste bit of formatting, that's less of a problem.

I'll get to work on a notice template later on today when I get a chance.

Any articles in particular I should add to the category and put the notice on when that's ready? (Of course, I'm sure I can find something...)

Okay, I created a simple template and added it to the Galaxy Gun page.

The Cleanup template is currently used as follows:

Code: Select all

{{Cleanup|reason=<reason>}}
Right now, the reason needs to be stated in text each time. I'm not sure how to properly automate it to have specific default messages depending on the parameters, but apparently it can be done.

Including the template automatically adds the article to Category:Articles Needing Cleanup. (Feel free to edit the template and change the category if necessary.)

Seems to work well. I updated the Help:Contents page with a quick blurb on how to use the feature.
