I liked the dalek one. Someone actually used an argument in trekkie terms (as in no numbers, dialogue; they could destroy the universe and have an elite squad leave it) and he just... defaulted to
You know, that scenario completely negates the whole point of the match up, so they aren't gonna do that...unless you want to say daleks are idiots.
They can acknowledge it, but not process it into the simple fact that if the best you can possibly hope for in a war is getting the enemy so pissed off that he wipes you out, you are going to lose. No ifs, no buts.

I like the Culture one. It's vaguely tragic that the Culture-debater has to pull out the 'Banks says there's no time travel in this universe' thing. As opposed to the sheer uselessness of most Trek Time travel, or the fact that ST has never gone far back enough to find a Culture they could beat. Never mind that with the Culture's preffered MO, they'd never even know they were being interfered with. And of course, the UFP are going to instantly re-develop phase cloaks in order to have a shitty effort at trying to make an equivalance to the Culture's 'high ground' hyperspace. Comedy gold.

Shit, so from what I remember, according to the Trektards, Star Wars humans can:

1- Withstand being in a cramped space for 6 to 12 hours and be just as ready for a massive fleet engagement as a man who just go into the cockpit of his fighter

2- Withstand having their entire body set aflame, then lying there, right next to a fucking river of lava for hours

3- be born with metal spines

Is this about right?

So who is to say that a Star Wars human cant just take a full phaser blast to the face and say "that all you got bitch?"

I love the way they selectively ignore evidence. Palpatine's quick jaunt from Corsucant to Mustafar in ROTS? Gone. The fact that the Enterprises dish was charged with anti-protons when Worf shoots it with the phaser rifle? Handwaved away. Evidence that void shields protect against kinetic impacts such as asteroids, short range missiles, macro cannons, and mass drivers (ordinance probably penetrates by means of having low relative velocity and specialized energy screens [Sabbat Martyr]? Ignored along with the megaton range point defence of Imperial warships.

What a bunch of dishonest cocksuckers.

Honestly, a "who would win" debate really isn't for them. Trek is not designed to show off fictional weaponary prowess, it's about...

What the fuck is it about?

Anyway, it would be like asking if Serenity could beat the Falcon in a race...

Well if anyone wants some data for the Klingons invade Armageddon debate. I have a copy of Epic Armageddon here. Also it disproves JMS assertaion that the Empire doesn`t use orbital support.

Out of interest I checked some of their threads. They are actually saying a Bath'leth or however you spell it is a practical weapon with some advantages over a broad sword. Ooookaay.

Ghetto edit.

I have managed to get my next response up our dear friend Spock. It seems he's reached new levels of lunacy, now denying G-canon on screen visuals as "nothing" and dismissing a cited quote from Roddenberry himself saying that Stardates are random. Man, this guy would make Darkstar proud.

TOS was a corny space adventure, but it was fun.
TNG was about lecturing us on how we should all behave.
DS9 was a Babylon5 rip-off, but it was mostly about milking the cash cow.
VOY was a Battlestar Galactica rip-off, but it was mostly about milking the cash cow.
ENT was purely milking the cash cow.

Among other things, JMSpock seems to be trying to explain that Vader would tell Palpatime's secretary that Luke has come in voluntarily and would put him in a holding cell until Palpatine gets the message

That is without a doubt the funniest thing I have heard in six months.

And according to the Revenge of the Sith Visual Dictionary, Palpatine hasn't slept since when he murdered Plagieus.

And what does JMSpock do? He cuts out the everything after I went "ROFLMAO!" and says "I take it you have no counter-argument."

Its essentially the Doctor (from Doctor Who) vs Worf, where Worf gets his Klingon weapons while the Doctor gets a broadsword. I believe its near the end, so try page 3 and 4 of that thread.

Well, Spock's degenerating into Stewart Davies. It's pretty much come down to him ignoring my post, saying the same thing, and me saying "Where is your evidence, Spock?"

Let's see someone wielding a broadsword get taken down by a 30-something pregnant woman, as opposed to someone wielding a bat'leth.

What I find amusing is the argument that the bat'leth found some endorsement in Korean martial arts as a competition weapon. Okay, like this compares to a design that's been used by multiple cultures for centuries to kill people.

Speaking as someone who owns one, maybe if you narrow the grip by at least an inch, and then round the sucker. As it is, it would make a lovely training tool for Yuuzhan Vong children, because trying to wield one of those things freaking hurts.
