no problem.

all OMSK nations are welcome, and can use my airstripes.

I'm not involved in turning Zablania to cinders so far but I support whatever OMSk does to it (read: wipes it out)

Syndromian unrests could be penned by anyone, but the nation should be left to it's affairs.

I still have Tithonus in exile here, so if he wishes to resume playing, which he might, I want to keep that nation for him.

I'd like to point Stas towards the new year's budget statement, which lists 10 Yak-130 trainers to be purchased from Red Technocracy in FY2009 :)

Heh...
I just tallied up the currently deployed JASD systems in PeZookia, and boy...

Code: Select all

1st Shore Defence Battallion "Vampires"
HQ 1x command vehicle
1st Training Battery
Field Training Platoon 3x MALS launcher
Combat Training Centre 1x Computerized training system
1st Shore Defence Battery
Missile platoon	3x MALS launcher
Reloading platoon	2x reloading vehicle
Supply platoon	1x supply, fuel carrier
2nd Shore Defence Battery
Missile platoon	3x MALS launcher
Reloading platoon	2x reloading vehicle
Supply platoon	1x supply, fuel carrier

2nd Shore Defence Battallion "Skull & Crossbones"
HQ Company
1st Blackbeard Shore Defence Battery
Fire Control Platoon
Launcher Platoon	4x HML launcher
Reloading platoon	4x RML reloader, trucks
Maintenance platoon
2nd Blackbeard Shore Defence Battery
Fire Control Platoon
Launcher Platoon	4x HML launcher
Reloading platoon	4x RML reloader, trucks
Maintenance platoon
One MALS cann volley off 2 missiles before reloading, while a Shepnukistani HML can volley off 4. I have 9 MALS (if I use the training battery for launching combat missiles) and 8 HML vehicles.

Which gives 18 + 32 missiles = 50 missiles per volley.

I think we can say the Central Sea is safe from any single carrier group.

And that means, if Saddamistan attacks... he'll suffer. Before being turned to cinders by OMSK, of course. Muhaha. Selling arms does yield benefits for world peace. Shep was right in his interview

Well, we'll need SAM systems to complement the ASMs now.

I think I will order them from the Red Technocracy in FY2010, rather than developing them myself. They can be based on the MALS launcher and be just as mobile and dispersed as the ASM systems.

Then it's just a question of using the massive missile factory Shep constructed to spam ungodly amounts of missiles.

A question: Do small nation's economies remain small forever? By what metrics do we use to judge the growth in size of economy? Number of posts (which I hope aren't spam)?

small nations remain small relative to other nations GDP

that's why :)

but they can grow and buy stuff :)

can't grow territory though unless they conquer ;)

EDIT: GPD growth rates are small also due to the first world development for their industries.

So how mcuh is considered realistic? 7% economic growth which is typical for a fast growing 2nd world or 3rd world?

but most nations are first world, so it's between 0% and 3% growth I believe

I am a command ecnomy and i also invest really really lots into space, and military industry for war, that's why I have a 6% growth but it will slow down after the initial "jump" to the SPIRAL program

Alright. So it depends how much money I splurge anyway, which I do hefty for most social and science needs.

I'm still looking for people to take up the SuperCollider (LHC type) proposal. We are looking for tenders for a lot of items, from superconducting magnets, to tunneling equipment and all. SUperconducting magnets we have been working on, but don't mind collaboration. The High Energy Institute has been granted 2 billion cash to delve deeply into the design and the science. If we can get 5 confirmed people PMing me their complete intentions and their proposals and what they can contribute, we can have a conference to discuss how best to work it all out.

Pretty much. I really don't think this merits some horrifying regulation.

Just go with what seems okay. If anybody writes "15 percent growth for last five years", we just gonna have a cool storyline about a hoorifying economic collapse :D

Not exactly - small nations usually converge pretty fast with larger nations, slowing down as they close with them, due to investment and technology transfer.

Oh, PeZookia would love to contribute, but we have no hi-tech industry. We could pretty much contribute some manpower, natural resources and a bit of electronic expertise in simple things :)

I was commenting on gross GDP.

Since first world nations are the ones doing the hard work, catching up to them is actually a bit easier for smaller countries.

Which is why developing nations typically have about 1 or 2 percent higher growth than the really big boys, but the big boys can commit far more resources to R&D.

It was seen historically, too - it was easier to industrialize after everybody's done it, since you could just import machines and expertise and get massive increases in output in just a few years.

Of course, this doesn't mean a nation like PeZookia will become an equal to the Red Technocracy, because convergence becomes prohibitively more expensive as you go, but proportions aren't going to stay the same throughout, either.

How can a gross GDP of a small first world nation equal to that of a large first world nation? :? that can't be.

The growth of GDP can equal or surpass that for some time ; Obviously, the sum total will always remain vastly smaller.

Or, rather - after 200 years of development, PeZookia may be where the Red Technocracy is now.

Of course, the RT will have colonies on all three moons by then and probably have transcended to posthumanism anyway ;)

EDIT: Oh, and of course convergence does not apply if you already are on the same technological level as the big bad boy. It's only applicable to 2nd or 3rd world developing nations.
